Chapter 22: The Answer

"You must have cast a spell on me. That's why I was in such a hurry to come back to see you!" Ian put his arm around my waist, catching me off guard, and gave me a deep kiss.

When his soft and cold lips touched my mouth, I could feel his passion and sincerity. Once again, I had him. The initial disappointment was suddenly lifted. His kiss was like a warm ray of sunshine, melting all the coldness in my heart.

I was shocked by the faint smell of blood coming from his clothes. Was Ian hurt? No, it was not his smell. Maybe he hurt someone. Did he torture someone else?

Queen Katheran cleared her throat, reminding us that people were watching. Ian let go of me, and he turned to look at Katheran.

"Mother, it's good to see you here!"
