Chapter 11: Chapter 011 Interlude 2

It happened about a week ago when a man and women knocked on our door. They pulled out my little brother Jakes wallet and said he died in an explosion.
My mother heard the news and dropped to the floor crying. I thank them and took the wallet then closed the door. I ran up to my mom to try and comfort her.
Later that same night I told my younger sister about the news of Jakes death. She looked toward me and left and went up to her room.
The week after that day was quite a blur. We tried looking at what was left of the body but the two people running the morgue didn't think it was a good idea. I trusted their judgement and went home.
A day later I thought knew we were running out of daily necessity's. I knew my mother wasn't in any shape to go get grocery's so I decided to go out and do it myself.
After my shopping trip I saw that our doorway was left open again. "Mom I need you to close the door for your safety" then I froze.
I saw the my brother standing like he never left. He smiled awkwardly then I ran up to him happy to have him back.
After about 15 minutes of awkward hugging we finally let each other go. I look toward my mother and she looked better than she did all week combined.
Jake started to explain that he was staying at a friends place. My mother seemed to accept what Jake told her.
I told Jake to take to our sister because she was sad as well and would enjoy learning that he didn't die.
I then asked him about the wallet that a man and women brought us from the scene of the crime and Jake glared at the mention of them.
Suddenly it felt like I was surrounded by darkness and there was nothing I could hold onto falling deeper and deeper.
It seemed that Jake noticed that I went pale and start to shiver. He then excused himself, and went upstairs into his bedroom.
I got up and picked up the grocery's that fell to the ground and tossed out everything that spoiled and broke.
I grabbed a drink to relax myself and to celebrate that Jake didn't die. After a while just came bad down and said he was sorry that he had to leave.
He then asked for the polices card to tell them that he was alive and they identified the wrong body. I agreed and took out the card from my wallet and gave it to him and wished him well.
After he left I sat down on the couch thinking that I'll finally be able to have a peaceful sleep in over a week.
