The Truth

The moment Sophia stepped into the compound, her eyes fell on Alex's car and her heart reflexively skipped a beat. She knew without a doubt he was still at home, and her heart thumped at the imagination of the situation of things between them. 

She had tried not to think too much about it as she rode with Tyler back from school, and thanks for their somewhat awkward conversation, she had been able to keep the thoughts and worries at bay, but now, she couldn't and she had to face them. 

Sophia heaved a sigh as she strolled into the house. Her eyes toured around the sitting room and kitchen, but there was no one.

Sophia turned for the stairs, but she paused when her eyes landed on the door of Alex's private study. She had a feeling he was in there, as he always seemed to coop up there most of the times, and she was certain it wasn't always to work.
