Chapter 2: Feathered Wings, A Star Bird?

They didn't really fly too far, and soon enough could see the spot where their mysterious space rock had crashed, there was a long trail caused by it, and a lot of trees and rocks that were in its path had been destroyed.

They had never seen such destruction before, making them a bit frightened and very quiet.

"What do you gals think it is?" Asked Rosetta breaking the lingering silence as she gazed at the distant crash site.

"It is a star Rosetta; we all saw it fall," Silvermist answered calmly as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, all the while not moving her gaze from the site, seemly less shaken than the rest.

"That's not what ah meant! Besides it is no longer a star!" Hissed the redhead at her airheaded water fairy friend.

As the two continued to bicker, both Fawn and Tinker Bell flew toward the site to get a better look.

Iridessa was at the back in slight fear as she gazed around for any form of danger, but her curiosity got the better of her seeing that there is nothing that could bring her and her friends harm insight. So she flew towards the bickering duo hoping to calm them down.

Tinker Bell and Fawn flew over at the site, as a lot of the dust has settled but the smoke was still lingering and they could make a vague outline of the crash site where their 'star' had landed, without the moon's light they couldn't see it quite well.

"Hey, guys! You should come to take a look at this." Called Tinker Bell, the two arguing turned their heads over to notice their two friends are nearby the site, so they flew over. Iridessa doing the same, but at a much slower pace.

They all landed nearby and realized that whatever it was had crashed hard into the ground and lifted some of the ground and dirt a bit.

More and more of the smoke began to settle and soon they finally saw it, and they all gasped.

However, for Fawn, it was more of a pained gasp than that of a surprise compared to the rest. For it was a large black feathered wing.

"It looks like a wing of a bird? Do yah girls think it's an animal? Is it hurt... Uhm? Are yah okay Fawn?" Rosetta asked no one in particular but before she could continue she saw a torn look on the face of her animal-talent fairy friend, making her cover he mouth and ask gently in worry.

The rest looked at her in silence as well as worry, for Fawn had a pained look on her face they all knew she loved all sorts of animals even those that she knew would eat her the moment they had the chance, which made her one of the best fairies among the animal talent fairies. And now seeing these wings that just laid there immobile as well as the devastation around it made her feel a stabbing pain in her chest at the poor creature.

"Hey guys come on, we must not jump to conclusions, okay? Look on the bright side perhaps it isn't an animal at all, I mean what kind of bird falls straight out of the sky while being on fire and lands without being burned to a crisp?" Iridessa spoke as she pointed at the large black feathered wing that didn't even look cinched.

And did it look shiny?

This thought drifted in her head before she shook her head to clear it.

Iridessa though a stickler for the rules and a cautions fairy, was energetic and perky, and always the one that brought light and energy to the group. Of course on the premise that there was no danger or harm insight.

"Yeah, Iridessa right. So think of it this way, instead of an animal it could be some sort of weird star creature. A star bird perhaps." Silvermist added calmly in her way as she placed a hand on her friend's shoulder to calm her down.

"You are right, but that means that we must help the being even more Sil!" With more energy in her voice and a clenched fist, Fawn spoke with even more determination.

Tinker Bell on the other hand was staring intently at the wing, she had to agree with Iridessa about one thing, that this couldn't be an animal. Not even a piece or feather of it could be seen on their way here, the environment on the other hand was destroyed.

'Just what kind of durability did this creature even have?' She wondered mentally.

"Am getting a closer look." Tinker Bell flew towards it as her curiosity rose to levels she couldn't contain anymore.

"Tink! Wait!" Her friends all called out at their impulsive friend as they raced after her as they couldn't leave her.

They caught up quickly and landed near the 'star bird'. But taking a better look was slightly harder with no light, not to mention that it was a moonless night too.

"Iridessa a little light please?" Called out Tinker Bell first without touching the wing first.

"Right! Coming up!" Iridessa reached for her leaf purse and pulled out a leaf rolled up in a cone, the part where there should be an opening was a small black glass-like object. She then looked around for a moment before shooting off towards a slightly tall bush, once there she removed the small glass cover and when she did, a bright light burst out.

The light was as bright as the sun's rays, well because it was as. After all, she had personally gathered these rays.

She gently placed it there and secured it while making it shine at the rest of the girls and the 'star bird'. She used her talent to make it spread out properly, by holding the edges of the light and pulling it out like a cloth.

"Perfect! Too bad we only have one." She murmured as she flew down towards the rest finding them a little dazed, getting closer she understood their reaction as she too got mesmerized.

"What a beautiful wing!" Said Rosetta with awe as her emerald eyes widen. This made the all nod unconsciously at her statement

They all saw that this wing was almost the same sized as that of a sparrow, meaning that it was a little larger than they were, it was midnight black with large fluffy feathers that sparkled under the light from the torch as if it was filled with stars. The longer one looked at it the more they were drawn into this 'vast night sky' as they unknowingly called it mentally at the same time.

They were so drawn to it that they walked closer and touched it unconsciously. The moment they let their slender fingers and soft palms on it they felt that it was warm and so heavenly softness that they have never experienced before.

"Wow! Such softness, I have never touched anything this marvelous before and I have touched many soft baby animals too." Said Fawn, in awe at this wing. She ran her slender fingers in the feathers much like the rest.

"How about we lift this wing and see what it is?" Said Tinker Bell as she got even more curious at what this being might be that had such a beautiful and soft wing.

The rest also got curious due to her question. The wing was very large as it covered this creature completely and they had to lift it to see.

"Okay, Tink, Dessa you two over at that side, Sil and Ro over there with me, be gentle okay." Fawn quickly gave instructions as she was the one that always dealt with animals, and even if this was not an animal this was an exception on the count of the bird-like wing.

The girls all went to their positions, they didn't know if it was heavy, but they knew that it was big so they had to be careful and not aggravate any injuries on this poor thing.

"Alright on 3, … 1, 2, 3!" Fawn said and lifted her side, though soft, the wings were not at all slippery, instead, firm and tough.

But to their surprise the wing was strangely very heavy, they had to put in more strength as well as their wings for that extra boost!

Duff!

A slight thud rang as they finally lifted the wing and it dropped over at the side.

"Mah word! It was unbelievably heavy for a wing; are all wings this heavy Fawn?" Rosetta said with a slight flush as she breathed due to the strain they had all pulled.

She was a garden fairy, though they were all hands down when working it didn't apply with such heavy manual labor. But she just had to make an exception as she too was curious about this here creature.

It was the same for everyone and Fawn who was asked by her garden fairy friend was holding her knees as she bent over to catch her breath with her back towards the creature, as did everyone else, well almost everyone.

"No! Wings are not supposed to weigh anything! What is this creature that is so strange?!" Fawn couldn't help but exclaim as she had managed to finally catch her breath at the bizarreness of everything this night.

"Maybe you should come and ask him." Silvermist's calm voice drifted over from behind them.

"What do you mean Sil? And how do you know it's a hi…" The question was left unfinished by Tinker Bell as she turned around to look at her water fairy friend.

"Oh, oh! Ah know that way of speech" Said Rosetta who was next to her blond friend and sighed, she then looked over as well.

"Oh mah!" She said in awe as she held her hand over her mouth as a bright blush that was even brighter than her hair crept over her entire face.

The rest of the girls also looked over and saw their mysterious 'star bird' at last, and they just could help but gasp and be shocked again as well as gain the same flushed faces as their red-haired friend.

There laying with both wings stretched out and on his back was the most handsome sparrowman they had ever laid eyes on and here at this moment and time as he was lying there peacefully he seemed to have made the entire world freeze as his mesmerizing presence graced this world for the first time.

He had long black pants and a silver belt that had a violet gem in it, and black boots with silver soles beneath them. He had a long sleeveless black trench coat with dark purple patterns and decorations that showed his aesthetically muscular arms, and a dark purple vest that barely hid his very muscular and athletic chest that seemed like it was carved by the gods themselves with their very hands.

His hair was midnight black, it would have reached the middle of his back but now they lay sprawled on the ground as if one took the night sky and splashed it on the forest floor. He had thin pink lips, a high forehead, thin curved black eyebrows, and a sharp small nose, it was a perfect face that oozed with beauty and manliness unlike any other. His pale skin seemed to radiate a gentle glow that seemed somewhat enticing to fairies that gazed at him, what's more, were his sharp pointed ears.

They couldn't believe that there was such a being that could exist.

"Is he even fairy-kind, sure he has the same ears, but he has wings like a bird too. So what is he?" Silvermist asked quietly, but no one had a clue whom to ask either.
