Chapter 4: Destiny or Coincidence?

"HEY! WHAT ARE YOU BOYS STILL DOING HERE! THE BELL HAS ALREADY RUNG! HURRY BACK TO YOUR CLASSROOM!" As usual, Mr. Mendoza is still at it again. Though, it was soothing to see him being strict again, which brings the ambiance back to its old self. "RUN!" Chance shouted and caused the other students to flee, and the entire hallway was full of echoes from the student's laughter.

Though it was a short glimpse, I saw Mr. Mendoza smiling as he watched the students running through the hallway. There is always a teacher who is strict but kind-hearted, but there are also those who don't give too much attention and prefer not to connect with their students. Whoever they are, it just makes school exciting because you'll have the opportunity to meet different types of personalities.

"Guillermo, wait a moment," A teacher suddenly called my attention as I was running alongside Augustine, Chance, and Calliber. "Good Morning, Sir. How may I help you?" Although I couldn't remember her name, I was sure that I may have met her from time to time. "Nevermind, just hurry to your classroom," Kinda weird, but maybe she forgot what she wanted to tell me.

-In the classroom-

Though it was already nine in the morning, there are still students who aren't present in the room. Probably still having a hard time locating the room number because of the three buildings with two sides each. Both floors have the same room number, which caused confusion for first-time comers. I also struggled to find my room when I was a new student here.

"Hey, wake me up when the orientation begins," I told the three, and they agreed. "Yeah, yeah, just sleep already," Although I don't trust either of the three to wake me up. I'll just rest anyway...

-TWENTY MINUTES LATER-

Indistinct chattering filled my surroundings as I woke up and saw that the room was filled with students, old and new. Some of them were my former classmates in Junior Highschool, and almost half of the room was filled with unfamiliar faces.

"Good Morning, class. Settle down, so we can start the orientation and dismiss earlier than the scheduled dismissal," Sir Alfon, my former adviser, greeted us with a smile early in the morning. Because there were still seats not occupied, I was about to rest again.

However, Sir Alfon called my attention. "Guillermo... You are still the same student back in Junior Highschool. It's nice to see that you have been doing well," I didn't know how to react. It felt like an insult, but I know it was not. "You were our teacher for English and reading last year, Sir Alfon... You make it sound like it has been years since we last met," He laughed, and Augustine and the three joined him as well.

"Not even a hint of change. Good to have you back as my students again, the four of you," Sir Alfon smiled and sat at the table in front of the class. To wait for the other students before starting the orientation.

While the four of us played the new game released earlier this month. However, I found myself bored and just rested in my armchair. The deeper my sleep went... The vaguer is the dream about the lady whom I saw earlier. And with every second that passed, my mind had gone deeper into the dream that created a sense of reality.

Her footsteps...

Her angelic laugh...

Her soft-tone...

Her sweet scent...

It felt as if it was all happening right now.

Suddenly, I received a heavy smack in the head. Which awakened me due to the pain it inflicted.

"LEO! WAKE UP!" Chance kept on shaking me to wake me up. "What?!?" I responded, annoyed because my dream was disrupted. "Look outside, isn't she the one we met earlier?" Because I only roused up, my vision is still a bit blurry.

Though it matches what the lady was wearing earlier. I don't feel something from seeing that person outside. Probably just someone who wore the same colored shirt.

"That's not her... Probably wearing the same style like her," I lean in my armchair to rest again. Sir Alfon threw a whiteboard marker toward me. "Hades Leon! Stop sleeping already! Only five minutes left, and we'll start with the orientation!"

Why do they keep throwing things at me? Earlier, Mom threw a pillow at me because I forgot that I had classes today. Now, Sir Alfon tossed a marker towards me for sleeping too much. When did the world get to be this cruel?

"Yeah, alright," I responded and waited for Sir Alfon to start the orientation.

-AT THE BEGINNING OF THE ORIENTATION-

Though I have already known for being a student of this school for five years. Listening to the orientation is quite fulfilling sometimes since there are new changes in the system. Sir Alfon prepared a PowerPoint regarding the selected topics about the school and the rules and regulations. Yes, hearing everything about this is something that I found uninteresting.

But because of my friends actively talking about the new students who arrived and debating who has the prettiest visual. I was somehow entertained, not because of the ladies, but how simple my friends could be. Suddenly, as the orientation resumed and my attention was leaning toward my friends.

Someone knocked at the door and was waiting for Sir Alfon to respond. Yet, Sir Alfon didn't seem to have heard and continued with his presentation.

"Hey, Sir, someone is looking for you," I announced, which Sir Alfon immediately checked to see who it was.

From the looks of it, after Sir Alfon went outside. Augustine started a bet and asked the three of us whether it was a new student or not. Even the gender of the one outside was included. Obviously, because I was bored and the only one to have seen the person. I gamble that it was a new student and a lady at that.

Hearing the word lady made them jump out of joy.

"Are you for real? It seems that we have been blessed by the Deity of Romance. Our classroom is filled with lookers and actually has a lot of pretty ladies," Simps.

"Did you just call us simps in your mind, Leo?" What? Are they secretly someone who could read minds? "Because if you are, then the pleasure is ours," Now, do you understand how my friends are simps.

Although we are far from being weird, they just happen to love the idea of talking about girls and sometimes many political issues.

"Hey, look, Sir Alfon is almost finished speaking with her. The moment of truth," Augustine suddenly mimicked a mild drum roll. Sir Alfon entered but the lady left without any signs of entering the room.

So the three immediately asked Sir Alfon who that lady was. "Got your hopes up? That lady was the new transferred teacher," Figures, from the way she formally addressed Sir Alfon gave it away. Although I doubt the three idiots would notice anything about it. "How in the hell is that even possible?!? She looked way younger than you," Precisely, probably a fresh graduate and started a teaching job here while taking her masters.

"Language, please! You are right. She is a freshly graduated student, and a cumlaude at that," I was right?!? Maybe I should drop out of school and start a fortune-telling business. Although, Sir Alfon lowkey revealed too much info about that new teacher. "However, I heard someone will attend a bit late," It's already ten o'clock, though.

Sir Alfon started the presentation and orientation. As you know, I never really gave it that much importance since I've been a student in this school for five years already. Listening to his discussion inside a cold room, I felt something weird.

A tingling sensation...

A sudden reaction...

And the moment I laid eyes on the door, someone casually entered.

"Good Morning, Sir. Sorry, I'm late," She was familiar. "Don't worry about that just find a seat and listen," Starstruck, that feeling when you see someone and you are left in total awe.

It was her...

That peach colored shirt, that grey pants, it was really her.

How could this be? How could I meet her again this soon?

She walked towards me, her footsteps, her gentle breathing.

"Can I sit beside you?" Not knowing how to react, Augustine was the one who answered her.

She sat beside me. Her smell was the scent of a flower. Suddenly, I felt my heart thumping, and my body began to numb. Sweat covered my face, I couldn't move one inch.

That's when she approached me again, and the subtle touch made my heart skip a bit.

"Are you alright?" My mind started to clear off the anxiety. As I gazed into her eyes and that wonderful smile.

"Were you the one I met earlier at Mcdonald's?" I mumbled loudly to the point she heard it personally.

"Oh, it's you! Thank you for what you did earlier," She giggled.

How surreal can this situation be? A movie or a dream? A coincidence or destiny?

Nevertheless, I think I might have fallen in love at first sight.
