Chapter 52: The Empire's King

"Saffire!" the pale woman's rebuke sliced through the air, sharp and nearly shrill, her mouth hanging open in scandalized horror as if Saffire had insulted the King himself.

"It was just a simple question," Saffire pouted, her eyes wide with feigned innocence as if she had asked about the weather.

I was left dumbfounded, my mind whirring to perform a hard reset, struggling to make sense of her question.

Who, in the name of all that was holy, was she asking about? Fashire?

How was he in bed? 

"What? No! Why would you even be asking me that?" I clapped back, mortified.

Once she had brought up that image, I couldn't get it out of my mind. And why would I even want to think of something like that?! The thought alone filled me with disgust.

How was it even any of her business?!
