Chapter 5: Hellfire begins!
* knock knock knock. " Bart? Are you ready?" Laurie asked as she knocked on Bart's door.
" Yeah, one second just putting on my shoes. You can come in if you want." Bart replied as he struggled to fit his shoes over the suit underneath. " Ah, got it!" Bart exclaimed as he finally got the first foot in.
" Okay, I'm coming in." Laurie said to the boy before opening his room door. She walked in to see Bart upside down on the floor trying to get his other shoe. Laurie laughed at the boy's predicament drawing his attention.
" Oh, it's funny huh?" Bart asked the woman as he continued struggling.
" Yeah, it is. Here let me help you." Laurie said to the boy. She walked over to him and put her finger on the inside of the shoe and pushed down fitting the shoe right onto his foot.
" Hey, thanks!" Bart said to the woman.
" You're welcome, now come on monkey man, let's go. We've got people waiting on us." Laurie said to the boy.
" OHHH AHOHHHHHH!" Bart yelled out as beat on his chest like Tarzan making Laurie laugh.
" HAHAHA *SNORT! Oh, no." Laurie was shocked at the sudden noise that came out of her mouth.
Bart's eyes lit up like a tree when he heard the girl snorting. He got to his feet with an amused look on his face and walked up to the girl. " Heyyyyy, what was that?" Bart asked the girl.
" Nothing." Laurie replied.
" Hey, don't hide it now that was... That was something. So, if I'm the monkey man what are you miss piggy?" Bart asked.
*Snort!" Heh Hey!? That's not nice. I'm not *Snort! Snort! A piggy." Laurie struggled to explain to Bart as she continued laughing.
" Oh, wow how convincing. Say hi to Miss piggy every- Ow" Bart continued joking until Laurie slugged him in the arm and walked out the room. " Think I might have gone a bit to far. Hey Laurie wait up!" Bart yelled as he ran out the room after the girl.
" Oh, I'm Laurie now? I thought my name was miss piggy." Laura asked the boy.
" Laurie, I'm sorry I didn't mean to push it that far." Bart apologized to the girl.
Laurie looked at Bart with a grin on her face and giggled.
" What? Did I say something crazy?" Bart asked in genuine confusion.
" No, Bart I was just joking." Laurie replied.
" Oh, so you're not mad?" Bart asked the girl.
" No, I'm not mad. It was funny." Laurie replied.
" Oh. So, we good?" Bart asked again.
" Yes, we're good. Now come on slowpoke, the others are waiting for us." Laurie said to the boy.
Bart nodded and followed the girl out to Utopia's airfield where the other lights and few X-Men were waiting.
" What took you so long?" Emma asked the two.
" Bart couldn't get his shoes on." Laurie replied bluntly.
" Hey!? Way to make me look bad. But it's more complicated than that. My suit made it hard to fit my shoes on." Bart explained.
" You brought your suit?" Hope asked the boy.
" Hey, I'm a survivalist." Bart exclaimed.
" You're an idiot." Namor stated.
" I wouldn't say idiot. More eccentric." Colossus stated with joy.
" You're just like Bobby." Emma spoke.
" Hey? Why me?" Bobby turned and asked the woman.
" Because you both have only been on this jet for less than ten minutes and you're both already annoying me." Emma explained to the man.
" I didn't even say anything!" Bobby exclaimed in his own defense.
" How about we all just be quiet and enjoy the flight to the mainland?" Magneto asked the group.
" Ugh! Please!" Hope groaned.
" Hey!?" Bart and Bobby both yelled in unison.
Laurie looked up at the boy and giggled to herself as he and Bobby both tried to defend their honor.
The flight to San Franscisco was short but felt like an eternity thanks to the combined efforts of Iceman/Bobby Drake and Impulse/Bart Allen.
" Oh, God please Shut up!" Emma yelled.
" Magnus you shut them up or I swear to god I will!" Namor yelled in anger.
" I tried already they just won't stop!' Magneto replied.
" What? We're just explaining why we're absolutely awesome." Bobby exclaimed.
Bart ran up and threw his arm around the iceman and nodded in agreement.
Laurie reached up and grabbed the boy's shirt drawing his attention. Uh, Bart I think that's enough." Laurie explained to the boy.
" We're here thank God! Get me off this plane." Hope yelled as she got out of her seat.
Emma sighed and looked back at Bart and Bobby. " Listen, you know why we're here Bobby. And you Mr. Allen please do behave yourself." Emma explained to the boy.
Bart nodded and began following the X-men out of the Jet and into the spotlights. The cameras flashed and reporters swarmed the mutants as they crossed the red carpet towards the new Mutant history museum.
Bart and the other lights followed the X-Men inside the building and began exploring. " Whoa! This place is huge." Bart exclaimed.
" Well, duh! This place holds memories from the very conception of the X-men to today. There's a lot of history in this building." Laurie explained to Bart.
Bart's smile grew wider and wider as he scanned the room with every piece of X-Men memorabilia imaginable. Items from Magneto's first helmet to Wolverine's skeleton and even a heartwarming picture of Charles Xavier and the original five X-Men hung up in the museum.
" This place is amazing. Could anything ruin this evening?" Bart asked unaware that just outside the building twelve-year-old Kade Kilgore and his new hellfire club had gathered and were preparing an attack on the gala.
" Just look at it. Have you ever seen anything so pretty in all your life?" Wilhelmina asked her comrades as she looked down at her strange little creature.
" Yes, my fathers splattered brains across the alps. But this is a close second. We're here." Kade explained to the woman before announcing their arrival to the museum.
" How'd you guess they'd move up the date for the grand opening to tonight?" Kid Frankenstein asked.
" Liberals are nothing if not predictable." Kade explained to the boy. " Did we get a look inside? Who did the X-Men send?" Kade asked.
" All the heavy hitters. And some other guy made of ice. Just like you expected." Kid Frankenstein replied.
" Any last words of wisdom for the troops, Kade?" Manuel asked the boy.
" Yes. Any of you moron's fuck this up and I will hack your entire family tree into kindling and burn you atop the pile. Now let's go carve our names on the face of history." Kade explained to the hellfire soldiers. He kicked open the doors and led his troops out. " Thus begins the new age of Hellfire!" Kade exclaimed.
