Chapter 19: Making a new friend
Ruoruo froze and she raised her hand to rub the back of her neck. She could not look at her idol, Tang Qing.
"Do not mind her, she is only jealous. Don't take it seriously," Tang Qing told her casually like this could happen anywhere at any time.
"I . . . I did not . . . I . . ." Ruoruo began to stammer despite how hard she tried not to.
"You are shocked, right? A few people know, now you are one of them," Tang Qing laughed before taking the glass of drink she was offered.
"I think I just traumatized her," the young woman murmured as she sat down where she stood up from. She passed her glass of drink to Ruoruo when she noticed the girl swallowing.
"Thank you," Ruoruo appreciated while avoiding her gaze as she gulped down the content of the drink.
"Your sister is so stunning," the young woman commented as she looked at Lin Jing who she was talking to some people with Shen Yan's hand tirelessly on her waist.
"No wonder she won Ah Yan over," Tang Qing murmured as she placed her hand over the woman's eyes.
"And Lu Tian can't you notice the tension between them?" the young woman asked as she pulled away Tang Qing's hand.
"Ye Miao, I notice nothing," came Tang Qing's firm answer.
"Too bad, I am the only one enjoying the show, I hope it lasts long," Ye Miao snorted and took away Tang Qing's drink.
"What college do you attend?" Tang Qing asked Ruoruo after a few minutes of comfortable silence.

"They are all members of our club. Without your relationship becomes official, you automatically become a member of the club. We started with only six members and slowly expanded with spouses and siblings.
"It is not too crowded, right?" he asked as he looked around. Without waiting for her to answer him, he continued, "Your sister could join the club if she desires."
Lin Jing looked around at each of them. They were all in their twenties and of very high status in society. She shook her head. "Thank you for the offer but I don't think it is right for my sister to join. She will find her friends."
"She has found her friends already. Can't you that she is getting along very with those two," he gestured at the ladies her sister was talking to. "You don't need to worry about her getting mistreated. We are all nice people."
Lin Jing smiled tightly, she was beginning to regret bringing her sister along. She has been to gatherings like this before and she does not have good things to say about most of them.
"You should trust me," he leaned closer and whispered into her ear.
The contact was so light yet she could not help but shiver slightly. She was not expecting it because her mind was occupied with worries about her sister making friends with them.
She did not want her sister to get involved too much in what she was doing although she was told that her sister needed to be with her to make it easier and make her appear more trustworthy.
"You two should get a room," a female voice joked lightly behind Lin Jing and she turned to look at the lady.
The lady smiled showing a pair of dimples. She was forced to look back at the girls her sister was sitting with. The lady before her looked very much like the smaller lady.
She smiled when she met the woman's gaze again.
"I got myself dimples but people still think I am my sister," the lady complained with a slight pout as she turned to where Ruoruo was sitting.
"Oh, I got confused," Lin Jing agreed with the lady. "Your dimples are beautiful," Lin Jing praised sincerely when she saw noticed the lady with Ruoruo laugh at something her sister said but she did not see those dimples.
"Thank you. They were painful and expensive to do but I had to when my boyfriend could not differentiate us," the woman narrated with ease as though she has always been friends with Lin Jing. "Welcome to our club."
"Thank you," Lin Jing appreciated as she found the woman to be very comfortable to talk to. She was pleased by their friendliness. She was never scared of any of these sorts of gatherings as she has met a lot of strangers for her work, studies, and many more.
She was also very easygoing in her work.
"I saw you on TV once and I was impressed. You are a genius. You have made people see your profession at a whole new height. I saw you on TV once."
"I just don't like it when my profession gets looked down on for reasons I am yet to understand, so I try to change what most people believe," she told the woman seriously.
"You are right. I wish I have the courage you have to stand for what I believe," she admired.
Lin Jing nodded and blushed slightly at the woman's words. Simple awareness programs she does twice a year should not be taken so seriously.
"I have been following you on social media for a few months now. I never knew you and I would meet like this. You look better in person and I must say that I am very jealous of your skin and toned body. Could you let me in on some of your secrets?"
Seeing the ladies begin their ladies' talk, Shen Yan escaped to his friends.
The lady looked back at him and laughed softly. "I wanted him to leave."
Lin Jing's eyes widened as she looked confused.
"Don't get scared, I am not your enemy. I just wanted to strengthen our newly birthed friendship. I have a strong feeling that you and I will have a lot of fun together and I am serious about what I asked. Tell me your secrets," the woman told her as she got closer to Lin Jing.
Lin Jing further blushed. "I don't have much to say."
"I saw one of those skincare videos you did and I tried but it did not work for me. Is there a problem?"
Lin Jing began advising the lady and correcting some of her past mistakes. She spent most of that night with the lady who later told her that her name was Ye Shan.
