"Burn the bodies," Rania said with contempt as she looked right into the eyes of the man she was mated to. She knew how this would fuck him up because she had seen his eyes soften when the light came and he could see her eyes.

He could see her covered in shards from the explosion and honestly, he had hoped that Rania hadn't been hurt. It didn't matter that his father, the great warrior of all Calindra, had been incapacitated and was probably on his way to death.

What mattered was that he could try and make sense of what was happening. Maybe Kim Rania would give him a show of mercy, right?

But then what was mercy when Rania hadn't ever received an ounce of mercy from Yanna or even the mate she had been given anyway?
