Chapter 113: The payment

"I have to explain first the nature of my work, by explaining it you will understand more about it. I am the gatekeeper here, existing solemnly to guide the ones chosen by the tower to its vicinity. Nevertheless, my work doesn't stop there. The thing I require, before anything else, is a corpse. It's the payment I take from anyone wishing to get help from the tower without being called. The tower is a monstrous land in disguise."

One might say it was a Utopia everyone dreamt to live in, others would hate it because it didn't have the weight of a body. To live in it, one had to leave behind the corporal weight that held the soul captive in it. It was a land for spirits to dwell in, live in ecstasy during the day and in anger and sadness by night. It was a curse regarded as a blessing. Everything existed in balance. Harmony was always a matter of evil and good, blending with each other and creating the balance to keep the world working.
