Chapter 57: My Background

When I came back from the visit to the Fairy Tail guild I was incredibly happy. I had made a lot of connections to some of the most important characters in the story.

Arriving when they were still young as a Rune Knight really helped them trust me despite my shady background. It was mostly due to the fact that I don't think they really understand my backstory.

I haven't explained it fully but now is a good time as any. I had found it after scouring the reports that the Rune Knights had on me, it was not complete, however.

Information regarding my 3-month disappearance and the supposed experiment that happened to me at that time was not present in the report at all.

But from what I gathered, I had been the sole survivor of a demon attack on my village. The demon seemed to be the demon Lullaby from the series so yeah.

Apparently, I was abandoned in one of the countless houses filled with corpses after Lullaby began its tune of death.

The Rune Knights had supposedly missed me during their search, and that caused me to hate them as I grew older. Instead, dark mages were the ones who found me in the rubble.

They were actually the ones that had summoned the demon Lullaby and were looting the houses when they found me. They were surprised that I was even alive, it had been 2 days since the attack.

Seeing that I had survived the attack the leader of the Terror Blast Pirates, Roland the Butcher, took an interest in me. He thought that I had innate magic that had awakened in me to protect me.

He was correct as apparently, the innate magic I had was my different shades of Haki. My innate magics are called, Observation, Armament, and Conquerer's Magic.

It was a nice way to make sure that me suddenly using Haki in this world wouldn't be odd. I guess that is why Barat was not surprised when I wrote these down in my Rune Knight Application

Since they thought I had basically awoken 3 innate magics that were applicable in nearly every situation I was quickly trained to become their secret weapon.

They were saddened however as I grew older my poor talent in magic seemed to show, explaining my current pretty shit control over my Haki.

They were about to kill me until I demonstrated a supernatural gift in martial arts by creating 2 completely different martial arts styles, the Rokushiki and Renewal Taekwondo.

With these skills, despite my subpar magic, I was able to stand out and become the secret weapon they had wanted. I was able to kill mages even decades older than me.

I had been sent on deadly missions since I was 10 years old, eventually doing the impressive feat of killing the Shark Eater's Guild by myself at age 13.

This was impressive as while the Shark Eater's Guild had not been a massive Dark Guild yet it had been a rising star under veteran A-rank mage Lucky Jack.

After that feat, I had apparently gotten the confidence to kill Captain Roland the Butcher, by myself and succeded. I had also managed to kill his lieutenants Terrian the Grey, and Katerina the Swift.

I was left with a lot of wounds after the fight and the rest of the Terror Blast Pirates took advantage of that and chased me for days, nearly killing me multiple times.

The Balam Alliance though saw potential in me and decided to take me under their wing. They hired me to become one of their executors, stopping any retaliation that I was facing.

Since then they had channeled my rage and violence to be one of their most effective attack dogs with me accomplishing 2 incredible feats on my own.

I had once again destroyed an entire dark guild by myself, the New Imperium which had been encroaching on the Balam Alliance's territory.

They had 1000 members, granted most of them weren't even mages but quantity has a quality all its own. I had managed to defeat their entire force in 10 minutes, alone, with nearly no injuries.

I had also faced 1 S-rank mage and 3 A-rank mages, losing my eye in the process. This was particularly impressive as the S-rank mage had an incredibly powerful magic, Space Magic.

It was true that in the story I had not faced them alone, having reinforcements, but only losing an eye to be able to kill an S-rank mage at age 16 was impressive.

The only reason that I had not been a confirmed S-rank threat was due to my poor magic skills that allowed groups to take care of me so long as they were prepared.

I had supposedly only failed missions where I was facing a prepared force, as I had not been able to deal with certain types of magic like debuffs, curses, or mind control.

Making me a powerful tool so long as they used it against the right group of people. If they did I was basically a guaranteed success, if not I would fail.

From here things get muddy as I was serving as a loyal and effective executor for the Balam Alliance for 4 years now but I suddenly went missing for 3 months.

This was not in the case files, but according to what Barat had said while I was recovering, I had been taken to do experiments to improve my ability to do magic, my only weakness.

It made sense as the Balam Alliance would want a more powerful weapon to use and I had been loyal to them for years now so they trusted me.

The experiment must have been something vile as I had turned myself into Rune Knight custody and betrayed my former masters as soon as I was set free. You know the story from there.

It was a fascinating tale that took many parts of my adventures in the World of One Piece and Earth, translating it here perfectly.

It made sense now why people were not surprised at seeing me use Haki as apparently, it was my innate ability. It also made sure to explain my I wasn't good at it.

The experiment would now justify why I would soon gain rapid proficiency in all of my magics and be able to pick up 2 more, Inventory and Wind Dragon Slayer Magic.

Overall if you were to read it I would come across as a powerful and determined person who despite his low talent in magic managed to stand out through hard work and training his body.

It was a tragic tale that probably tugged at the heartstrings of Barat in particular as apparently, he was one of the Rune Knights sent on the mission to kill Lullaby.

He must have accepted me so easily because he felt guilt for missing me as a baby and causing me to live a life of hardship.

I knew with a sensationalized story like this I would definitely be able to become a star so long as I played my card right.

People always love a redemption story, and mine was particularly tragic. Luckily I hadn't participated in any large massacre of civilians only enemy mages.

I played my cards right and managed to get my story out there and make myself seem like a sympathetic person then I would be able to gain a reputation fast.

I would probably be able to make myself a figure representing redemption and that always hit the emotions of any person out there.

And now that I have better insight into this body's backstory I would be able to bring it up in conversation more making people believe I was opening up.

I just needed to do a bit more research into the specifics but after that, with these events being based on my own memories, it should be smooth sailing from there
