Chapter 396: Escape - I

Bai Liyue turned around, her heart pounding loudly in her chest. She felt that someone was following her, but when she looked behind her, she found no one. She frowned, wondering if she had made a mistake.

She stared into the darkness, trying to detect any movement, but there was nothing. After a few moments, she shrugged her shoulders and turned back around to fill her empty jar with water.

She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't notice the shadowy figure that had crept up behind her. When she turned around again, she was startled to see a stranger standing behind her.

Immediately, her heart skipped a beat, and she opened her mouth to scream, but before she could make a sound, the stranger reached out and covered her mouth with their hand.

Bai Liyue's eyes widened in fear, but the stranger spoke softly, "Please don't shout. I'm not here to harm you." 

Bai Liyue was confused and frightened and blinked her eyes innocently at the woman.
