"Agent Selene, are you okay?" Agent Persephone, who noticed me first, asked.
"Urgh…" I grunted as I pressed tightly on my temples, trying to relieve my head of the pain. "I feel like my head's about to split… urgh."
I tried to stand from my seat and head towards the door, but my knees gave out, making me kneel on the floor.
"Agent Selene!" she exclaimed and immediately ran towards me. "What happened?" She held on to me tight and supported my body. "Call the medics, quick!"
The other agents gathered around while the others checked my desk and noticed my tumbler. Probably thinking it was the cause, they scanned it using the brooch and gasped when they found out the contents.
"It's a truth serum!" one of the agents shouted. "20% of it, combined with the water. We need an antidote to cure its effects."
"A truth serum? Why are you drinking this? Mythos' truth serum is very effective!" Agent Persephone reprimanded me.
"N-No… I ugh…"
This was indeed one heck of a serum. My vision started to blur already, and I felt so light-headed. Where is that jerk? He's supposed to come by now.
And as we planned, Agent Helios arrived, running and huffing by the door.
"Is Agent Selene here?" he asked while catching his breath.
Look at him, looking all worried about me. He even had our supposed-to-be switched tumblers in his hand. What amazing acting. He could win an Oscar for that.
Everyone turned to him, surprised. Noticing me in the arms of Agent Persephone, he strode towards me and checked my condition. His hands gently touched my face as if I was someone precious.
"I guess I'm too late," he murmured.
"Excuse me, Agent Helios, but—what happened here? Why—" Agent Persephone tried to ask.
"Our tumblers got switched."
Agent Persephone quickly examined the tumbler in his hand, and it was indeed the same one as mine.
"Why do you have the same—but more importantly, why do you have a truth serum in yours?"
"I take a few doses now and then to increase my immunity," he answered quickly. "Now, if you'll excuse me. I need to give her the antidote."
"You have it?"
Shoving her away like the rude jerk he was, he then turned to me and took me in his arms. He rummaged on his coat and took a small bottle with a liquid inside.
"Agent Selene, please open your mouth."
My body might feel weak, but my mind was still very active. The time has come for me to prove my acting skills. But my goodness! This serum was taking a toll on my mind. No wonder it's called truth serum.
Slowly opening my eyes, I looked at Agent Helios and smiled sweetly, acting that I had just recognized him.
"Babe," I whispered as I lifted my hand to touch his face.
Then, I hugged him tight and laid my head on his shoulders.
Agent Helios' eyes widened. Well, not just him, everyone else who saw us as well.
"Oh my goodness!" Agent Persephone blurted out.
Agent Helios chuckled and scratched his cheek.
"Ahm, please don't sleep yet. You need to take this—"
He tried to make me drink the antidote, but I gently shoved it away, being the weakened person I was.
"No, not there."
"Huh? Ahm… do you want me to mix it with water in a glass?"
I chuckled and acted cutely. Ugh. I feel disgusted with myself deep inside. But I need to keep acting.
"Like before…" I replied and pointed to his lips.
A faint squeal escaped the girls' mouth. Being a bunch of serious and hardworking agents in Mythos, it was rare to see lovers inside. And once we do, most of us find it amusing. And what's more interesting here was that it involved me, the 'Ice Queen' known for refusing lots of men and my vast knowledge about romance, and Agent Helios, the haughty Top Agent Genius who turned out to have a trashy personality.
Agent Helios blushed and stared at me, loss for words. Even his ears were red. Truly amazing acting. He looked like he was so in love with me.
"We can't—there's too many—" he said, stuttering.
The impatient me grabbed the small bottle in his hand and made him drink it. It was fun forcing a drink into his mouth. Ahhh… how I wished there was more and I could suffocate him. Oops! I hope that didn't show on my face. I was smiling all along, so it should be fine, right?
After making him drink it, the next part that I decided to do was…
Ba-dump! Ba-dump! Ba-dump!
Urgh… it's nerve-wracking now that I'm gonna do it. Why am I feeling shy now? But I can't back out!
Biting my lips a bit, I kissed him and drank the antidote from his mouth. Haah… and there goes my first kiss. To think it would be with this hateful guy. Well, not that it matters to me. I'm not an immature teenager.
Pressing my lips unto him wasn't the end of it. I have to be skilled in kissing, too. That's why he made me watch those romance clips. If we're truly lovers, we should act like we've done it hundreds of times. So I… I went a bit wild with my kiss.
'Sh*t. This is embarrassing. At least my embarrassment would help in making my face look flushed.'
How did it go with those kissing clips again?
Right… Slow, gentle pecks first. Then, a little nibbling and biting of the lower lip before taking it whole. All while my hands travel from his cheeks to his neck and chest… until the kiss becomes deeper and a bit sloppier.
"Ahh…" I moaned as I kissed him.
Come to think of it, his lips were smooth. The kiss itself wasn't that bad, I guess. No wonder lovers kiss all the time. It's just the person I'm kissing who's the problem.
"Wooooaaaah!" everyone gasped.
He kissed me back and held me on my waist. I did my best not to flinch from his touch. Good. I'm doing great so far—I think. If he says he's not satisfied with my acting later, I'm gonna punch him in the face. After all this sacrifice and humiliation, I won't accept no for an answer!
For a whole minute, we kissed—the exact time it takes for the antidote to take effect. For some reason, I felt my body getting warm. It's probably because of the antidote. After that, our lips parted, and it was time for the last part of my acting.
Realizing everything I had just done while in a daze because of the serum, I jolted up from my position and let go of Agent Helios. Then, I scanned around, and everyone—literally—was looking at us. I covered my face with my hands, ashamed of myself. Then, they all laughed and whistled and cheered for us.
Agent Helios laughed with them. Then, he hugged me and carried me in his arms. I buried my face in his shoulders and refused to look at anyone.
"I'm so sorry for the trouble," he told them. "If you'll excuse us."
And so, we went out of my team's office, with me being carried like a baby in his arms. We have to be in this position until we reach my quarters. Ughhh… I feel like I'm dying inside.
Though, if I'd be honest, being carried like this… it wasn't so bad. Somehow, it reminded me of when my father used to carry me when I was a child—especially on nights when I couldn't sleep. He would hug me just like this and sing me a lullaby until I fell asleep.
Haah… I miss my father. If only… that didn't happen.
