Chapter 13: because you can’t

Alex got back home earlier than expected, so he went straight to bed and slept with a satisfied smile on his face.

He felt much lighter than before. Anyone that said revenge was not good for a person's mentality had clearly never experienced the feeling Alex was feeling now.

Alex still had much more revenging ahead of him, but he would deal with them whenever he encountered them.

The next day, Emily was mad at herself for falling asleep before the movie even started and wasn't in a good mood.

Alex tried to cheer her by making her favorite pancake for breakfast, and that did the trick.

"ok, Emy, are you ready for some more hunting?" Alex asked in an exaggerated happy tone of voice.

Alex had already reached a level where hunting and questing in the forest didn't help him anymore, but he decided to stay so that Emily, too, could catch up to him.

He had a specific quest in mind that he wanted to finish as soon as possible, and that was the reason why he didn't spend his free stats and told Emily to do the same.

Now that Alex had reached the level needed to accept the quest, he wanted to level up Emily too so that they could both take on the quest as a team.

Alex wasn't worried about anybody else doing the quest ahead on them; what he was concerned about, now that he had reached the requirement, was that the bug wouldn't last that much.

After going out of the house, Alex left the team so that all the EXP for doing the quest would go to her instead of both of them.

By the time she reached level 30, Alex had already bought the two remaining legendary items and finished his preparations for returning to the city.

'it will be at least a year or two before any other legendary items appear. by now, there must be some people reaching level 20, so the competition is going to be over the remaining 154 epic items' thought Alex

It had already been more than two weeks since the start of the game, and Alex was sure that at least game enthusiasts had leveled up quite a bit, and the INB exchangeability was known to some.

Alex and Emily got in the car and drove back to the city.

"Are we going back home?" asked Emily worriedly.

"don't worry, Emy, we will never see that b.." Alex was about to curse his stepmother when he remembered Emily was still a kid and instead said, "that bad person. We will have a new house now."

Alex already knew where to go. His destination was the biggest hotel in the whole city.

In a city with more than ten million people, the biggest hotel could be considered a small city.

Thankfully, everything was exactly the same as Alex remembered from his previous life.

Order was still there, but if a person paid attention, they could notice the small signs of the chaos taking over.

"at this rate, I think we still have a month left before the real chaos wave." Mumbled Alex to himself.

"what? did you say something?" Emily, who had slept through the whole trip, woke up, looked around, and asked, "did we arrive already?"

"Yes, we are here. We will get to our new house in a few minutes."

After a few minutes of deriving, they reached the hotel.

"Wow, it's so big," exclaimed Emily.

"do you like it? It's going to be our new home."

"This whole building???" asked Emily with astonishment.

"of course not, silly; what use do I have for such a big building? We are just going to live here temporarily," said Alex and then looked Emily in the eye and continued, "I'm also going to bring some friends to live with us. Are you ok with that?"

"Friends? Do I know them?"

"no, you don't know them yet, but they are all good people."

"how many are they?"

"eight. I'm going to bring them one by one. Most of them don't even know each other."

"you are acting strange again; just do what you like; I'm ok with it," said Emily and turned her head to look and the beautiful garden in front of the hotel, "it's so beautiful; I want to live here Forever."

Alex chuckled and thought to himself, 'just wait some more, and I'll show much more beautiful things.'

As they were entering the hotel, a guard stopped them and said in a deep voice, "you are not allowed in here."

Alex looked at the guard with indifference and "we are both above level 20; I'm here to make a deal with your boss. Are you sure you want me to turn back?"

The guard looked at them in suspension but didn't say anything else before talking in his walkie-talkie and then turned to Alex and said, "boss will see you now."

The guard guided them to the highest floor in the building and left them in front of a huge golden door.

Alex walked to the door and entered without anyone saying anything. He had been here before. He even lived in this suit at some point. After all, everything had a price.

On the other side of the door, there was a large space full of golden stuff.

Alex ignored everything and walked straight to the receptionist in front of him.

"I'm here to meet the boss," said Alex

"Right this way, sir." Said the receptionist and turned to guide Alex to the boss's office.

They passed many guards, but Alex's face didn't change in the slightest.

Emily, on the other hand, was mortified. They were from a relatively wealthy family and were raised with money always in their pockets, but this level of wealth was new.

Even Alex was terrified the first time he came here, so he just smiled bitterly and let Emily experience everything.

After passing more than twenty guards, they finally reached a door that opened to a beautiful, entirely white office.

When Alex and Emily entered the room, the receptionist left and closed the door behind him.

The chair behind the desk turned, and a small figure of a man with too much confidence in his eyes could be seen.

The man was the third most wealthy person in the entire city and had enough power under his fingers to build a safe haven for the players with enough money in his hotel.

The place didn't last more than two years, but that was enough for Alex since he would be leaving here in less than a year.

"Hello, Mr. Jones, my name is Alex Adams, and this is my sister Emily. We are both above level 20, and we want to buy the biggest suite in your hotel, besides yours, of course." Said Alex without even letting Mr. Jones greet them.

He knew Mr. Jones and knew that he liked straightforward people, so he just got to the point.

"oho, I like your direct approach, but what makes you think I want to sell?" said Mr. Jones

Alex stretched his hand forward for Mr. Jones to grab and said, "because I'm willing to pay in INB,"

Mr. Jones looked at his hand for a second before taking it.

At that moment, Alex ordered the system to show Mr. Jones his current INBs.

When Mr. Jones saw the number, he jumped from his seat and looked at Alex with surprise.

He could be considered one of the first people to realize the value of INB and was trying to accumulate as much as he could before the hell broke loose.

"What makes you think I wouldn't just take your money and get rid of you?" asked Mr. Jones with a smirk.

"it's simple." Said Alex before letting his aura loose and continued, "because you can't."
