Chapter 49: Xander Mcknight

"What are you doing here, Xander?" Taranis calmly questioned.

"Would it be too hard for you to believe if I told you that I came to see you?"

Xander glanced behind at the ghoul struggling against its constraints, "And it's a good thing I did, that ghoul would've ruined the supernatural-free environment we've been building for decades."

"You haven't visited me since my sentencing over a century ago and I'm supposed to believe you're simply here to see me?" Taranis kept the stoic expression on his face and tightly clenched his fists to calm the rage spiraling in his heart. "Cut the bullshit and tell me why you're really here."

Xander had another sly response prepared, but then he remembered that the man who reported back to him earlier was still there. He removed his dark shades and his red eyes fell on the man that was standing quietly beside him. "Why are you still here?"

"Lady Anna demanded that I stay by your side at all times, Sir McKnight."
