"Veah, Veah... open your eyes, beloved..." A familiar, soothing voice called Neveah.
The voice was deepened with concern and all of Neveah's senses came alive with recognition.
'That voice... I know that voice...' Neveah thought to herself.
Neveah's eyes fluttered open with a gasp, desperately sucking in a deep breath of air and while she still struggled to settle her breathing, her eyes immediately settled on the familiar face of Jian.
He was crouched down and gazed at her, his expression contorted in concern.
"Are you alright, beloved?" Jian asked Neveah, his gaze searching hers.
"Jian... how..." Neveah trailed off, she glanced around frantically, realising that somehow, she was laid back on the surface of the stream, floating.
Her surroundings had not changed, it was the same forest they had just been in, but Dante and the rest of the company was nowhere to be found.
Now, there was just her and Jian present and nothing else.
