Neveah was surprised to awaken to Menarx's arms around her, her eyes were still heavy with sleep but she leaned up slightly.
Menarx loosened his hold on Neveah's waist so she could turn over and Neveah was even more astonished to find Lord Everon also stood there, leaning against the table.
"I will report to My Liege." Everon said, nodding in greeting to Neveah before he took his leave.
Neveah's gaze then moved to Menarx who stared back at her.
"How come...they said you'd come in a day's time...?" Neveah asked in confusion.
"Does it hurt?" Menarx replied to Neveah's question with a question of his own, his hand moving down to linger just above her injured side.
Neveah winced on instinct before she quickly adjusted her features, but it was too late, Menarx already caught it.
A myriad of emotions swirled in Menarx's eyes, worry, relief and many others Neveah could not quite identify.
