Chapter 283: I Love You Too, Buddy

Adam couldn't eat any of the donuts without taking off the mask but he didn't care. What mattered was that Carter was in a very good mood because his friends thought he was cool for supposedly having a magician for a father. 

He would have to deal with the fallout of Carter's misunderstanding when he got home though. He wasn't looking forward to that. Maybe he should bring Callie one of the extra donuts to help soften her up. 

The little boy hugged him tightly when the event was over and it was time for all of the men to leave so class could start. "Thanks, Daddy. I love you."

Adam's heart constricted but he hugged him back just as tightly. "I love you too, buddy."

He did. He really did. 

Carter waved him off cheerfully but he was dreading going home. He didn't want to break Carter's little heart but he didn't think Callie would like this. She would probably set him straight.
