The Force was unable to sense inanimate objects. Well, they were felt, but only when you touched them with the Force. That part of it which you control. If you are blind, for example, you are not able to see, but you can feel the objects. Or if you're blind, for example. And if this "network" is big, it can be used as a reconnaissance. True, the other gifted will smell such a reconnaissance. But most importantly, I came to this on my own, only to find confirmation in the Jedi Archives. There I also learned that some of the unicum could cast such "nets" for hundreds of kilometers. But against other gifted ones, as I said, it was ineffective. Too crude, if you will.

I don't need hundreds of kilometers; my thirty meters are enough for me. Enough to control the nearest space. And that's without connecting my... uh... "vision" or "sight"... I don't know how to say it. It turns out that the "fog" that I perceive as the Force, no one else can see. The same Archive says it's a very rare gift. Very rare. Enough for me to keep quiet about it. God forbid Palpatine gets wind of it. Ugh. Dibs on me. So that's what I'm talking about, isn't it? It's very important for a Jedi to keep his eyes open. You can't see undead objects in the Force, and it's hard to keep the "net" open all the time because it's supposed to be so dense, but in combat it can be "torn" by the enemy. So I have to keep eye contact with the target. It's much easier to turn your head than to move the Force around you. It's much easier to turn your head than to move the Force around you. Because of all this, as you understood, it's quite difficult to work with what you can't see. Like the insides of droids. Or humans. Anything is possible, of course, but control of the Force must be very high.

But in a quiet environment, when you are meditating, when your control is heightened, you can work with your eyes closed. It is even easier if you have looked at your goals in advance. You set your marker, so to speak. So there I sat, meditating, heh. My goal was to pick up as many heavy stones as possible. One very heavy one is also possible, but I'll get to that a little later. Right now my task is to figure out exactly how I perceive telekinesis. For the normally gifted, it's lifting heavy things, but what is it for me?

After half an hour, I realized that this task was beyond me. The only thing I knew for sure was that the larger the object, the less control I had. Notice that it was the size, not the weight. It was the same with the number of smaller objects. The more of them, the... well, you get the idea. It remains to find out if this control can be trained, or if it is some kind of block on the mind. No, you can train it, but to what extent? Does control affect anything other than telekinesis? And are quantity and volume related? I would have to ask Dzik to make me some small balls. You can have metal ones, or you can have stone ones. Wait, I'm so stupid, I have sand under my ass, why not use it?

I scooped up a handful of sand and held it up to my eyes, lifting grain after grain into the air. It was hard at first-I just couldn't keep track of the barely visible objects. And when there were too many, I lost the ability to keep track of so many. My eyes were dumbly scattered. I went back into meditation, since I had been in the same situation before. It became easier. I realized that my limit was forty-three grains of sand. For now, I hope. The forty-fourth either did not rise or fell one of those already in the air. I note that the smallest cubes, of which there are plenty on the court, I could lift forty-seven.

- I got it! - I heard Ahsoka shout. And when I looked in that direction, all I saw was a boulder lying at her feet.

Hehe, two minutes of stone levitation seems to be a long way off for her. But at this rate, I'll undoubtedly have to make an order to Jiku. Boy, what obstacles women don't overcome for sweetness. And I'm sure the guys wouldn't mind a brownie, either.

Glancing at the wall clock, I noted that I still have an hour to improve myself. I looked at the kids. The sand in my hand. Kids again. I'm going to reduce the demands. And development should be gradual. And if the stone is just right for Ahsoka, it would be good for the boys to reduce it. Except for Rama, of course. Anyway, I'll spend this hour on the kids. As long as they don't end up on their necks.Lairi led us to a large room, about half the size of a soccer field, but the true size of the room was obscured by a large circular holographic panel in the center. About two meters high, this panel took up about a third of the room. On the edges of the panel, opposite consoles of incomprehensible purpose, were armchairs. The room itself was suffused with darkness, and the light bulbs and buttons of the consoles glowed brightly. And the panel itself... I couldn't tell from my height what was in the center of it, but the light was quite bright. As my mentor explained to us, when she led us to one of the consoles, the Great Holocron was located right in the center of this round thing.

After pressing a few keys, Lairi stepped aside, presenting us with a half-meter-long hologram of a human male dressed in a standard Jedi robe.

- Greetings, Guardian," the woman bowed slightly, followed by us, "I'd like you to meet the future of the Jedi Order, and their Guardian of the Great Holocron," she pointed her hand at our entire crowd.

- Hmm, interesting," seems to be the most popular word in the Order, "I haven't had a tour in a long time," the Guardian smiled. - Hello, children.

After his greeting, we all bowed again, cheering him on one by one. And I muttered after him.

- What would you say, Guardian," said the Twi'lek, "to answering a couple of questions from these kids? I think they might be interested in asking you.

- So would I, young lady. So am I," the hologram said, and then she bowed her head to the side. - Ask your questions, younglings.

Don't say a word. Well, if none of you want to...

- How old are you? - Shauli, a Rhodian boy, got in front of me. He also has a funny name, Bulat.

- Oh-oh, so many people have asked me this question, but like them, I can only answer one thing, I do not know," the male hologram grinned.

- But how so? - Mitya the Twi'lek girl wondered, "You don't know when you were born?

- The past," answered the Guardian, "and the future are the prerogative of the living. But for me there is only the present. So I have to rely on you to answer that question. But they like to change the date system so much. - He shook his head. - They have, twice in the last thousand years. And they love war. And too much is lost in wars," he finished sadly.

Also an interesting question, by the way. Does he have emotions?

- Well, at least approximately, - Bulat didn't give up.

- Approximately? - He glanced at Lairi. - The great holocron is little more than twenty four thousand years old.

- Whoa," the Rhodian said, and the others murmured.

I knew I was going to have to pry it out of him. Why did he have to give me that number in the first place?

- Anything else? - The Guardian of Knowledge asked.

There was no need to hesitate this time.

- What is telekinesis? - I said, and all the whispering children stopped talking. And the Guardian was slow to respond, glaring at me.

- It's a very... interesting question," the Guardian answered, and he stopped talking again. But he was definitely thinking this time. I mean, he was obviously thinking about something before, but now he showed it with a thoughtful look in his eyes. - Telekinesis is a technique of the gifted that allows you to move physical objects in space.

Mm-hmm, that's a bit too standard an answer. I don't think I'm ready, in his opinion, to hear a more detailed one. And that was a reason to think about it.

- Okay," I said again. - I'll ask you another way. Why do Jedi have a hard time picking up large objects? Master Lairi says size doesn't matter.

- Why do you think?

Is he Jewish or something?

- I think a lot of things. But I'd like to hear from... from an expert.

- Why didn't you ask your mentor?

- I did," I grumbled back, squinting at Lairie. - But the answer was... too childish. I know I should practice more.

He was silent even longer this time. So was our group, including the curator.

- It's all about perception," the Guardian finally answered. - In psychology, if you like. Until the mind is ready for what it can, telekinesis won't work to its full potential. And you're essentially not training, you're expanding your horizons.

- So it's not control that needs to be trained, it's concentration?

- It doesn't matter at all which way you improve. Mindfulness is too different, and everyone has their own way. - And, changing his tone a little, he ended, "But you have to do both. It will come in handy.

I've had enough of this conversation to get me started. I've been acting too mature as it is. I don't want to get any more questions. I could tell with the telekinesis, too. But I was the only one who seemed to understand it. The children's faces are so expressive. And the answers I received only confirmed, and in some cases supplemented, my conclusions. It's time to retire to the background.
