I can still smell her when morning comes. The phantom scent and taste lingering in my lips and nose tell me last night did happen—except it was less than what I would've wanted.

I stood outside her door for two minutes with my back against her door, not wanting to leave just in case she changed her mind. But the woman had a heart of stone. Riri left me in pain, which I probably deserved, but still. I couldn't believe she did that.
