Chapter 68: Chapter 27 - Mariano (1)

After the day I had, lying in bed with Riri is the last thing I ever thought how my day would end. I was feeling worn out and I planned to go straight to bed when I came home.

Yet I'm here. In her bed. Lying on my side. We're facing each other.

There's about a foot between us—and a pillow that she's hugging—and we're not talking. We're just staring at each other. I think I'll find this strange if it were someone else. But her? I could get used to looking at her like this, right here. It's definitely not the worst way to end my day.

I inhale and her sweet scent fills my nose. She smells heavenly, not overly sweet; subtle. It's just right. She smells like baked cookies. And before, I wasn't sure what it was, but now I do. It's like caramel. Riri smells good enough to eat. I have to clench my jaw. 

Her brown eyes have dark rings around the irises that make them pop. I'd get lost in them. I like the tiny heart stud on her nose. It's cute.
