Chapter 8: She Doesn't Recognize Him
7:00am
The assembly room was filled with managers from different companies and each had a discussion on how to improve the businesses welfare.
Xander sat across the opposite end of the table while one of the committee stood up to speak.
"With due respect Xander, the company has been running for ages, when your father was still alive, you can't stop the partnership your father had worked so hard to build." One of the members argued while the rest nodded in approval.
Xander's beautiful slender finger drummed rhythmically on the table and he barely looked affected by their statement.
"I'm not stopping the changes." He casually uttered. "It'll go as planned but it's not necessary or crucial to be in partnership with Liam's industry. The total evaluation of it states, the Liam's are going way too high on their cost production."
He snapped his fingers while Andrey, his personal assistant, who was beside him, dropped the file on the table.
"This file contains all records of Liam's cost and exchange, their growth keeps fluctuating which will be of great risk to my company and everything it owns, we could be swindled so do you get my point or you want to go through the records yourself?"
He rationalized leaving almost half the members a bit stunned, but for total confirmation, they went through the records and their faces turned ashen.
Andrey had always been proud of Xander and how he runs the business, it's impossible to trick the twenty four year old young man and that's why the company has been a lot more successful.
The man cleared his throat and dropped the file back on the desk. Xander was used to this kind of argument but this case was quite sensitive which was why he gave them proof.
"What are the clarifications?"
"My assistant here will monitor all assets gained or sent to this company, this should serve as a warning to all of you!" His emotionless tone made everyone swallow hard in fear and the air went still.
The sudden beep of his phone disrupted his meeting and everyone's expression went from bad to worse, his number one rule was to not be disturbed when in a meeting.
Who dared to call him at this hour….
His cold expression changed when he realized who called, he had informed his receptionist earlier to call him right away once the person he had been expecting shows up.
"Hello."
He answered the call, leaving everyone a bit stunned. The young CEO rarely answers calls during a meeting, who could he possibly be talking to??

Anxi waited inside the magnificent building, staring idly at the receptionist who was on call.
"She's already here sir." The receptionist informed the man who was on the other end politely.

Xander let out a soft sigh as he glanced at his watch, she's even earlier than the time being given to her, seems like she needed a job that badly, what a jackpot.
"Tell her to wait in the lobby and not to go anywhere, I'll be there in ten minutes."
He ended the call immediately while Andrey smiled at himself, his co-worker Mya tapped his shoulder looking half perplexed and amused at the same time.
"Are we really going to end the meeting in ten minutes?" She whispered.
"I could bet you my whole savings that we will." He whispered back while Mya smiled at the reassurance.
"He said you should wait in the lobby." The receptionist informed her but Anxi was still lost, it'll be impossible to find the lobby in this huge place, she scratched her head looking as confused as a puppy.
"Sorry but where can I find the lobby please?" She asked politely while the young receptionist was kind enough to point her in the right direction.
"Follow that path and turn left."
Anxi smiled gratefully. "Thank you."
She took the path the receptionist had specifically pointed out for her, admiring each corner as she strode by, she's never been to a company this huge and fancy before, it was quite exciting.
She was instantly marveled by the sight as her caramel brown eyes dilated in wonders, fascinated by the structure of the building.
People coming in and going out, some hurrying by with files in hand, it seemed like a hectic day.
Fortunately for her, she found the lobby and took a seat, waiting patiently for the person who was going to interview her for the post as the secretary.
As promised, Xander made his way to the lobby after ten minutes, he spotted the fragile lady who sat upright, patiently waiting while her eyes surveyed the area, she was dressed in a black knee-length pencil skirt and collared shirt, her long chestnut brown hair tied in a ponytail but left two strands of her hair falling at her face, she wore no makeup but looked as cute as a bunny.
It's the first time he's actually come across a woman who barely wore makeup and that woman happened to be the only one who caught his attention, he was adamant on knowing why someone so simple would gain his attention just like that.
He finally strode up to her, after looking her over for a few minutes.
Anxi instantly got to her feet the minute he approached her, she turned her attention to him and her big round eyes widened as he majestically walked up to her.
He was neither handsome or ugly as she watched him make his way towards her direction.
He looked enthralling in every way, making her think straight to those male gods she usually comes across in story books. She literally thought such men didn't exist with that outstanding beauty but this man before her proved her wrong completely.
Despite carrying such a cold and unpredictable aura, his expression remained indifferent and the delicate view of his face made her stare in admiration, his hair was colored black with a bit of silver strands at the tip which fell at his face, like those from a fairy tale, all of this leaving her blinking in disbelief.
His mountain peak cheekbones appeared high and chiseled into shape, more like they were paired and sculpted to sublimity.
His dark crystal eyes were spellbinding, so deep that one could easily get lost in them and what killed it completely, was the dark tiny mole which rested beneath his right eyes, adding to his captivity.
His small pink lips were equally tempting; one would daydream about how they'd taste.
She stared in disbelief at the enthralling being in front of her, was he really going to interview her??
"G..good morning sir." She said to him while bowing her small head, she looked short and the top of her head could barely get past his shoulder which he found strangely cute.
"Are you Anxi?" He asked indifferently, his tone firm and professional while the young lady who was still trying to recover from his charms nodded politely.
"Yes."
"Follow me." He turned around and walked off, Anxi stared at him in reverie but absentmindedly followed suit behind him. She after all really could not mess up the interview, especially now after seeing him.
Xander who walked in front, actually came to a conclusion that she doesn't recognize him, he wore a mask that day and she doesn't seem to recognize him at all, his lips curled upward and he walked into the elevator waiting for his confused bunny to join him.
