Chapter 1: Silver Moon World
here is some lore and background to the world. It is the normal modern world. though with more advanced technology and more forests than cities. Cities was built to include wildness instead of cutting and clearing forests. people don't know about the werewolves. well the people that live in modern cities. the eastern pack lived in a small hidden village beside some humans hunters. luke's father was the first alpha who reached out to them. before him, werewolves never reveal themselves to humans. they live deep in the forests using a type of magic that keeps humans from discovering their villages. werewolves do have some magic. they can control it up to a point. The magic is only used for hiding themselves or silencing dominance fights between challengers. when they are in wolf forms and is seen by humans, their magic can make them look like a large dog breed, most commonly the german shepherd or any other breed like it. As i said, their magic is mostly for hiding. Only way people can find the villages is if a werewolf shows it to you or you are a werewolf. Luke father strike a peace treaty with the nearby human hunters. the hunters stop using traps and cutting down the forest, and the werewolves keep really dangerous beasts from hunting them or stinking up their camps. hunters did have a small problem with skunks. when the werewolves left markings around their camp, the animals gave it a wide berth. they do have to refresh their markings at least two times per month.

Not all werewolves live in packs or stay in hidden villages. Strays are werewolves who are lone wolves. they don't like the whole pack thing so they stay alone. Or they escaped from abusive packs. Or they are victims of being bitten and don't know enough to find others of their kind. which is what sandy,zamas,ariel,and dallas is dealing with. Some strays are peaceful, like ron,steve and lily. while others are not, like the ones who bit sandy,zamas,ariel and dallas. some just don't get involved with others unless they find a good reason. like lily.
The Culture of the Pack
each pack is very different with their rules. Alphas rule the pack. The beta is second in command and is usually the mate. Not always. Some pack betas are the ones the alphas trusts the most. Most packs live in small huts when they are in human form. They walk around naked when in their village. when traveling outside, they put on shorts only if male, or tank tops and shorts if female. the pack really don't see body shame as humans do. They respect each other and is like a big family. When there is disagreements, the alpha gives the wolves a chance to fight it out. They fight in either form. The fights doesn't end til one of the fighters submits by rolling over or tucking their tail between their legs and letting out a whine when in wolf forms. In human form, they submit by being pinned and being unable to move. they win by putting their teeth and gently bite on their opponent necks. They trusts each other deeply. and it is rare if a member of a pack leaves it if the pack is healthy. There are abusive packs which leaves their members in ruins. Some of the strays came from these packs. They are left with very angry emotions and their wolf sides take over more often than the human side. Now time to talk about the mating rituals of the packs.
Mating Rituals
Unlike real wolves, werewolves allow anyone to mate. The pack usually holds a huge festival to celebrate the coming of the heat. The alpha and beta sends out huge hunting parties to get enough food for the coming week. if there are mated pairs, then the alpha will let them make another den far away from everyone else. there are usually several dens far away for such reasons. Werewolves often do mate for life unless one dies. In human forms, much discussion is had by the females during this time. since the males won't mate without permission. In their culture, they respect their females since it is through them, the pack survives. Though they do call them bitches, it means differently than when humans use it. Most females get annoyed by the overprotectiveness of the males. There are huge orgies happening around this time and everyone have fun. the omegas of the pack are the last ones as they are low on the pecking order. Werewolves can't get any diseases at all. Though the ones who are related won't mate with their relatives. after the fun, those who end up pregnant will stay in whatever forms they got pregnant in. most females like being wolves instead of human. due to them giving birth a lot quicker in wolf forms then the 9 months for humans. werewolves grow a bit quicker once born. there are usually 6 pups in a litter. it is very rare for only one pup to be born. the pack will not let anyone outside the pack see any of the pups. The pups will constantly shift from human form to wolf with no control as they are very young. no matter what form, the mothers will let them drink the milk while nursing them.And it not just the mothers who can nurse them. any female can nurse them if the mother allows it. The pack shares in the caring for the pups. once the pups can walk, the fighters will teach them hunting moves with the father watching. The father often spends time with his pups and the pack does the hunting for the pairs. though it the omegas that clean out the dens and bring bedding supplies which is mostly soft grass or moss.
Abilities of the werewolves
here are the abilities of all werewolves,strays and pack. though the alpha do have extra abilities that the others don't have.
powerful senses: all werewolves can smell the emotions of people, blood, and scent trails. Everyone has a scent that is unique only to them. werewolves in human forms smell like a mix of wolf and human. so that how they can tell who is a werewolf or normal human. Their hearing is nothing to laugh at. they can hear like wolves do. even in human forms. They often wear earplugs to make their hearing normal, though they can learn to block sounds naturally. most pups in the pack learn this skill first. so they can focus on the hunts. it takes a long time before strays learn this skill as well. though for some strays that don't shift to human forms or be around humans, it is a very easy skill to learn.
humanlike abilities in wolf forms: despite them looking like normal wolves, they can do things wolves cannot. They can all stand on their hind legs and walk like humans. they only do this when fighting or having some fun. They can also climb trees and do so regularly when hunting. their claws are like jaguars, able to grip any wooden surface. and their paws can turn into human shape hands when they need to. So they can open doors,windows and such without breaking it using their paws. They also have a bit of webbing in their paws like normal wolves so they can swim if they need to.
Partial shifts: all werewolves can learn how to shift one body part. like a hand or teeth or something that can help when in trouble. it takes tons of practice and focus but everyone can learn to do this. And they will do this before fully shifting since that does take a long time. fastest shift is 5 minutes. normal shift time is up to the person shifting. if they don't like being werewolf then their shift time can be up to an hour or more. cuz they rarely shift. those who shift often can shift in 15 minutes. that time often go down the more they shift. so they often shift at the fast time.
Alpha abilities: alphas can talk to humans in wolf forms. They also can talk to their pack members in their minds. though they don't share thoughts like in twilight. their minds is private and the alpha only uses this in emergencies. like when the hunters attacked a wolf pack, the alpha sent out a wordless signal to run before he died. They also have the ability to know where each member is, even if they sneak off. Only if they are in danger is when the alpha will act.
The weakness of the werewolves
They can die of normal means. you don't need silver bullets to kill them. though hunters don't know this. Their healing factor may be faster than humans but all injuries still need time to heal. They can die of blood loss if their injuries are too great. It's why they will run away instead of fighting. unless they have no other choice but to fight. they just want to be left alone to live life. shifting is also seen as a weakness cuz it does take time to shift. fastest shift is 5 minutes. which is why most wolves practice partial shifts. shifting only one body part like a hand or teeth.
Ages and other misc of werewolves
They will live forever as they stop aging by the time they hit their 20s. They can live for centuries if they don't run into hunters and other things that can kill them. They can't get diseases or get poisoned. They are also much bigger than normal wolves, as the humans weight add to the size of their wolf forms. When bitten, the human will turn into the type of the wolf that bit them. Most people will die when bitten. Chances of surviving the first shift is only when there are other werewolves or if the person somehow know to stop fighting and let it happen.
