Chapter 122: The Burning Sky

Sayuri and Dubhán learned the hard way that archangels were superior to them in speed and stamina. Uriel and Gabriel continuously flew ahead, ensuring the area was safe while the two desperately tried to catch up. It didn't help that they had to conserve their energy. The group had merely reached an altitude slightly exceeding the tallest skyscrapers. The world below them had faded to colorful blobs. As they drew nearer to the Megalopolis again, the colors changed to red and grey, as the cities were still smoldering. 

Up above them, the sky rumbled, but it mainly seemed peaceful. The group had yet to encounter an aggressive angel from Metatron's side. 

"I don't like this," Uriel said, looking around. "It's too silent down here."

"..." Gabriel parted his lips to say something but chose to exhale merely. It was enough for the other archangel to get the hint. She frowned.

"Was there really no other way to prevent this?"
