Like amphetamines, it increased productivity, resulting in users being able to power through the entire night. But it was highly addictive. So much so that there was no escape from it. No therapy, no medication could heal the addiction. In the end, many had to watch their loved ones spiral into higher dosages until their bodies dropped dead from sheer exhaustion.
