Chapter 225: Slaughter!!
The town is just ahead of us. I look at Nora and Masha. They are walking next to me normally. However our attire gives a different feeling.
I am wearing a beat up and dirty shirt with a camouflage pant. This looks weird. I changed to this before traveling. Nora is still wearing her beat up and torn dress. That looks like a rag.
Masha on the other hand looks splendid. Her fur is shining. It radiates light at night.
"We really look odd."
"It can't be helped. Since you weren't from here and I was treated as a sacrifice, we both have no clothes. That won't matter though. You will probably kill everyone anyway." (Nora)
So it's already decided that I will kill everyone. Not that it really bothers me. As a monster, I have no emotions or feelings.
"Don't worry. The people you are killing will spawn again. Think of them as a feature. This place is the testing field. The codex run different tests here. Only the capital is the only real place here." (Nora)
Her sentence made almost no sense at first. I had to stop to think about it.
"Doesn't that make you a testing dummy as well?"
"No. I have had that knowledge since birth. I have been offered to that dragon 10 times now. But I cannot die. Every time I am eaten, I go back in time and restart again. I am not the same as those dummies. I am real." (Nora)
It seems that I don't have to hold back. I can destroy anything and everything. Sounds like a virtual reality game. This is taking it a bit too far but it is what it is.
We approach the gate and two guards block us.
"Halt! What are your intentions?"
"We just want to enter the town."
"Prove that you are not hostile. You have a magic wolf with you. Are you a beast tamer?"
"Yes. This wolf is called Masha. I have named her. You don't have to worry about her. She isn't hostile."
The guards ease up a bit. However they soon reach for their guns. They put us at gun point.
"We can not let you enter the town. You are a suspicious person."
I guess they are just doing their jobs. But I don't have time to be diplomatic about it. I just have to break through them.
Clive didn't want to use too flashy a technique. He thought that water would be the best. Two balls of water covers the guards.
Their face is completely submerged in water. They started gasping for air and tried to fire at them. But Clive made sure that they are incapacitated. The guards struggled for a bit before drowning in water.
Well, they couldn't breathe anymore and drowned in water. Their lifeless bodies fell down as the water disappeared.
"I tried to be as discreet as possible. Did anyone see?"
He asked Nora. Nora was keeping an eye on the gate. No one walked across the gate so she concluded that this was undiscovered.
Clive checked their bodies for something useful. He found a pouch hanging from their waist. He checked inside. Shiny golden coins were inside.
"This should give us some money. But we have to dispose of the bodies first."
"You don't have to. Just put them to a side and their bodies will disappear soon." (Nora)
It was pretty convenient. Clive had just killed two people like it was nothing. He did not want to kill unnecessary people.
Because that would sidetrack him even more. And he is running short on time.
They enter the town. It's kinda desolate. Not many people are outside. The stalls are almost empty. It's like a dying town.
"Should we go to an eatery?"
"We can. Not an eatery but an inn. There, we could spend the night as well, probably." (Nora)
The plan was to spend the night in the town without causing too much of a ruckus.
They headed for an inn. It was pretty easy to spot an inn. Because there are no letters. Only pictures on the signboard which makes it easier to recognize.
They entered what seemed like an inn. There's an old lady at the reception.
"We would like a room."
"One night is one gold. Two beds and meals included." (Receptionist)
"Then I will take that room and dinner. Send a bit extra."
He puts a gold coin on the counter and the lady hands him a key. The room is upstairs.
The inn seems pretty empty.
"You paid way more than normal." (Nora)
"I know. But I am not gonna bother with that. It's not even my money. And I don't have to be frugal with it. Let's wait for the dinner."
The dinner arrived soon. It was more than enough. Clive wasn't feeling very hungry since coming here. He ate less than normal and it was fine. But that food contained sleeping drugs.
All of them were knocked out soon.
Clive opened his eyes only to find himself tied to a woodem pole. His eyes take some time to adjust to the light. He looks around and sees Nora and Masha in similar situation.
"You are the anomaly. We have to weed you out."
He could hear that sentence. However it was like a chant. They were at the town square and everyone is surrounding them.
The townsfolk have circled them. They all look like lifeless zombies chanting one sentence.
"It's too late. The administrator has found us out." (Nora)
"You woke up?"
"Yeah. It seems that they want to stop you from going to the capital." (Nora)
Clive just tore open the rope and stood up.
"I wanted to leave this place without killing many but it is forcing me. Then I have to return the favor in kind."
He arms himself with Aera. The spirit gun isn't active yet. However it can function as a gun. He just needs to check the current firepower.
He points the townsfolk who are charging at him in droves. Many of them have different weapons just like that last village.
The system administrators are seriously trying to stop Clive. However that won't stop him. He may have lost his mana or <Spirit>, as long as he has his physical strength, he will win.
He charged a bullet and fired at the mob. The pure white ball of energy just tore through the mob effortlessly. It wasn't too big but it did tear through their bodies. Many died in a single shot.
"The firepower is good. Aera never disappoints."
He himself is impressed. Then he thought of using his poison and fire. The poison created a purple mist which brought everyone down. Everyone was knocked out.
He then burnt those incapacitated bodies. He didn't harm the town buildings as he will use those. The villagers were burned to crisps and not even bones were left behind. It was complete carbonization.
"You really are merciless." (Nora)
"I had no choice. Anyway, let's take anything that is remotely useful and leave this place. If they already know that I am here, the journey might become more complicated."
Clive understands that these system mobs won't stop him. The administrators will send stronger and tougher opponents to stop him. So he needs to make haste.
He frees Nora and Masha. Masha had not woken up yet so he carried her to the nearest house. They will restock and leave the town.
