Artemis’ POV

In the middle of the night, a nearby whisper wakes me up and I find Beck's silver eyes very close to my face.

“Ready to get out of here?” he murmurs.

I nod, numb from the pills and the slight fever I'm running. It's a normal process and happens every time our bodies regenerate after a serious injury, similar to the fever in children when they go through the growing process, so I don't get upset, but I've never liked feeling feverish.

Beck takes me in his arms and silently leads me out of the infirmary. I lean my face against his neck as he walks to the elevator doors.

“What about the others?” I say between sleepy murmurs.

“Some are more injured than others, so a few will have to spend the night in the infirmary,” he explains.

“Are we safe?” I ask.
