Chapter 37: Chapter 37: An Unwanted Challenge

Artemis’ POV

After almost an hour, when the moon finally decides to draw its glow over us, I look at Beck and he stands up. But there is something odd about his posture. His back is very stiff, and his fists are clenched tightly.

“Sh*t,” he says, clicking his tongue and starting to walk in a hurry.

“What's the matter?” I ask as I stand up immediately, determined to follow him.

“Intruders,” he mutters.

Beck jumps down the emergency stairs and lands gracefully three floors down. He jumps down one more and slips into his office through the open windows. I follow him with quick, precise movements and catch up with him as he is calling someone on the phone.

“Put out an alert,” he says to the person on the other end of the line. “The puppies have come to play with the wolves.”

“Wait, how do you know there are intruders?” I ask with a frown as I follow him around the office.
