Emily's POV 

I was surprised I  made it all the way to the bathroom without my weak knees giving out but I have a feeling that the reason Waylen was standing behind me was to catch me if I fell.

My sweet man. His patience and kindness made me feel guilty…guilty that I checked out of life and he was left with the pieces and two children to raise all on his own.

Guilty that even though there was an ex-mistress down the hall and a few pictures that could destroy his life I was his priority.

I bit down on my lips and I kept walking, praying silently I wouldn't fall on my ass.

"How's Mimi? Is her fever gone?" I asked him.

Waylen came closer and helped me remove the lowly dress I was wearing. He dropped the dress on the silver rail south of where I was standing.

"Baby girl is fine. Don't worry" Waylen answered with a bland voice.
