"Xavier"

Muttering his name alone sent goosebumps down my body and the terror in his little eyes made breathing…well difficult.

I grew up in a volatile home. I know that fear well, I never wanted to see it in my son's eyes. Five years and counting and I kept them safe from that kind of home life until Owen decided to appear and wreck my life all over again.

Stupid dimwit!

I wondered how long Xavier stood there watching us fight…how long he felt that fear.

"Crap!" I murmured to myself.

"I will talk to him" Waylen said and left to go to Xavier's room, I followed him.

He knocked and waited for three seconds before he entered his room. Xavier was lying on the bed and the blanket was covering his whole body.
