"So, let's get to know each other. As you know, my name's Hatake Sakumo. I value loyalty and hard work among all. I like to cook and take care of my garden. I don't like spicy food. I'm good at strategy, ninjutsu, and mainly kenjutsu. My weakness would be my strength."
Weakness, my ass. He's sure he's more than an elite jounin level of strength. Though considering he must be Kage level, maybe it is his weakness.
"I've seen you in combat and I've read your files, but I would like to know more about you."
Souma tilts his head. "Well, I'm blind as you know, but my awareness is my strongest point, ironically. I can use water very well and I'm also good at kenjutsu. My tracking abilities are top-notch, too, according to the Academy teacher. I'm not bad at strategy, but I tend to worry too much about the tree instead of the forest. I'm trying to change that, though."
"Just remember that most time, saving the forest means saving more trees, too. It helps. Also, I've seen in your file that you were in the iryojutsu courses in the Academy, too. How's that going for you?"
He hesitates. "Well, I can use my water techniques to heal. And more information about the body and how it heals helped me with that."
Nodding, he seems to scratch his chin, before looking around him. "What would you do if you lose your sword and don't have water nearby."
"That's impossible."
"Ho. Impossible you say? Many times, I've lost my sword mid-battle don't think--"
"No, no. I mean, it's impossible for me to lack water."
He scratches the back of his head. "I don't think I need to tell you that by now most know about your water techniques. They don't use chakra. Instead of transforming your chakra into water, you use already existing water. What happens when you find yourself in a place without water source nearby. And no water pouch on you? Do you've got any water jutsus?"
Shaking his head, he shows what he means instead of explaining. With a move of his arm, he captures the water from the plants around him, taking it all. "There's always water around us, sensei. Be it plants." He then makes a more complex wave of his hand and captures the small water that there's in the air. "Be it the air itself."
He looks at where his head is and points at his chest. "Even your body is made of mostly water."
Sakumo's voice is serious as he asks, "Can you control it then? My body?"
He shakes his head. "Not yet, but I'm sure I'll be able in the future."
Humming, Sakumo touches the glob of water he still has above his hands. "Interesting. And what about that sword technique of yours? You didn't use wind chakra and the sword didn't touch the ground. And yet, you marked it."
Oh well, with so many people listening he will give him the cryptic bullshit answer as many had seen the effect to try to deny it or lie about it. Explaining without explaining.
"I just can hear it."
"Hear it?"
"Yes, the breathing of the steel." He takes out a kunai and grabs a leaf from the ground and throws it into the air. He then slashes at it with force.
It falls to the ground once again, intact.
He then grabs a mid-sized rock and repeats the process. This time cutting the rock by the middle.
"I hear the steel breathing and it obeys my will. It cuts what I want. And only what I want."
No need to mention that one needs Kenbunshoku Haki to be able to enter the 'state', at all.
Yup, yup.
Sakumo kneels to grab the rock and leaf. "This is amazing. Can you explain to me how can you hear this 'breathing'?" Seemingly knowing he was asking too much in front of many observers, he relents. "No matter. It could be categorized as a Kekkei Genkai if you want to start your clan. The same with the water techniques."
At his nod, Sakumo continues, "Still, I know a lot about your abilities now. However, I don't know about you. What can you tell me? Likes, dislikes, hobbies. Let me hear it."
"Well, I'm ten years old and my hobby is cooking. I like swords, meditating, and being surrounded by water. I prefer spicy food and dislike too-sweet things."
"Good, good. Now, I know for you it may not seem necessary, but I think it would be best to check."
He then puts something out of his pocket. It looks thin and small.
"What is it?"
"Oh, right, sorry. It's chakra paper. Let's try checking your chakra nature."
He smiles. He kind of wonders what would be his nature. Sakumo expects it to be water, it's obvious from the tone of his voice, but Souma knows that his abilities have nothing to do with chakra and more to do with chi.
When he receives the paper, he focuses a little bit of chakra on it. He doesn't see anything but it has a rough feeling though it only lasts for a second before he can feel it turn into ashes.
They both look at it before Souma says, "You know I can't really see what happened, right?"
