Chapter 75: A Need to Talk: Chapter 74

At the second class, in a lecture on Alchemy by professor Hosea, just as they were about to finish and just when the class bell rang, Professor Hosea reminded the class for what was to occur in tomorrow in the class on alchemy.

"Don't forget class, that in the next meeting, we will do a certain activity that involves making use the lectures that we have discussed throughout the first week."

"Does this involve going inside a gate?" asked Sofia.

"Why yes, it does."

"What are we going to do inside a gate professor?" asked another student.

"By using all the knowledge that I thought you over the last week, we will proceed with an activity I like to call, 'Scavenger Hunt'." said Professor.

"Do we have to bring a certain tool on this activity?" asked Rebertha.

"Hmm, not really. All I want you to do for today is review all that we have learned, so that you can easily apply this to the activity tomorrow."

As soon as he finished speaking ,the bell rang and soon they all got out of the Alchemy class and made their way to the cafeteria.

The class hall was instantly filled with a bunch of first year students. Students that all aimed to go to the cafeteria, so it was a bit cramped.

"What do you guys think will happen tomorrow in Professor hosea's activity?"Asked Remmy.

"Well, its called a Scavenger Hunt, but really its probably about trying to find resources that we studied and present them to the professor." said Sofia.

"I see. Does this involve with groups or do we do this activity by ourselves?" asked Sarah.

"Hmm, its probably done by pairs or groups more than two. We are going inside a gate after all. It'll be dangerous for us to go on our own." said Rebertha.

"I guess your right." said Sarah.

"Hmm? What's wrong Hamil?" asked Sarah as he noticed Hamil staying quiet while they were walking at the class hall. He seemed a bit off since the time in the first class, where they tried practicing their elemental control. He was praised by Ms. Eva a lot after it, but not long after, he seemed like he was always in thought of something.

"Nothing…just a bit tired since last night. I didn't get much sleep." answered Hamil

"You should probably get coffee while your in the cafeteria." suggested Remmy.

"Do they have coffee in the cafeteria?" asked Hamil.

"I don't think so…but there is a vending machine down near the stairs that leads to the roof of the building." said Remmy.

"Why would they put a vending machine that far from the cafeteria?" asked Hamil.

"I don't know." said Remmy.

"Wait…Sofia don't you have those pills you gave me to help with my sleepiness a few days back?" asked Remmy as he was reminded of the pill he got from Sofia one time when he was feeling really tired.

"Oh those? Sorry, but I ran out just yesterday before the fight…I got really nervous that night and I couldn't sleep, so I took them all that morning before the class rumble event." said Sofia with an innocent smile.

"Oh…I guess coffee it is then." said Hamil.

As soon as they arrived at the school cafeteria, they saw the place was bombarded with students in line for getting food.

"Hmm…this is annoying." commented Remmy as he felt irritated over the view of such a long line.

"*Sigh.* You guys go ahead and line up, I'll go to the vending machine first and get my coffee." said Hamil as he waved goodbye to the group as he walked away.

"Do you want anything? I'll get it for you while your getting your drink." Asked Sofia as she wanted to get Hamil his lunch together with her's, so that by the time he gets back, his food would be at the table.

"Umm…just get whatever is on the special today. I'll pay you back later." said Hamil.

"Okay." answered Sofia.

"Thanks." said Hamil as he walked on to find the vending machine.

When Hamil continued on walking down on the path, he suddenly felt a certain gaze was lurking his way. It meant that someone was following him. He couldn't tell who this person was nor did he know to which that gaze was coming from, so he couldn't do anything to confront this person.

It was as if this was a professional at work.

"...." so he simply continued on his way to the vending machine.

After minutes of walking, he finally finds the vending machine near the corner of the building that was next to the stairs.

The stairs led up to the roof and this fact gave him an idea.

For someone to stalk him in the middle of the day could only be assumed by a lot of reasons.

Either he was stalked by a weirdo, a killer, a certain crazed maniac for information, for monitoring his actions or that this certain stalker wanted to talk to him.

He gave this idea a chance and gambled on the fact that maybe this spying bastard wanted to talk.

So after he got his coffee from the vending machine, instead of going back to the others, he instead made his way to the roof.

For every tap of his footstep up to the roof, he could hear it echo throughout the empty halls.

As he opened the door to the roof, he could be greeted by a strong gust of wind that clutters his uniform.

"..." He then proceeds to walk to the middle open area of the roof and stood there waiting for this bastard to come out.

His stand there already meant one thing to the spy. His stand already means that the spy was found out.

"...Come out." said Hamil as he opens his can of black coffee.

Soon he could hear footsteps making their way up the stairs and not long after, the spy revealed itself to him.

"...What do you want?" asked Hamil in a rather cold tone.

"...How did you found me out?" asked the spy.

"...*Gulp*" Hamil stayed silent as he drinks his coffee with a cold stare at the spy.

"...Well, I shouldn't be this surprised to know how observant you can be." said the spy.

"For a boy who can sneak up on a sniper behind his back like it was nothing, I can only ever expect you to be this keen." said the spy.

"I'll ask again. What do you want, Class D?"

"Class D…Hmm, its sad that you haven't looked up my name yet. But yes, I am Eric from Class-D. or for a more clearer introduction. I'm the sniper who goes to class-D, the one who you defeated by simply throwing your spear and by knocking me out in the monster hunter event in the Class Rumble tradition." said the spy in a normal tone.

He was one of the people that played with Tyler River in the event. The same kid who Hamil saw this day looking at him with a scared expression by the entrance of the school.

This person was the Sniper.

The Spy that tailed Hamil.

"I'm not here because of Class-D or because of Tyler, I'm here for you…I'm here to talk."

Meanwhile, back at the cafeteria. Sofia and the others were now with their food and was talking to each other as they waited for Hamil to return.

"Hmm, Hamil sure is taking his time at the vending machine." said Remmy.

"His probably looking at the many choices for coffee. They have a lot of brands and flavors, I saw it on the vending machines by the train station." said Sarah.

"Or his probably stopping by the bathroom." said Remmy.

"Whatever it is, we should just go on ahead and eat. He'll come back sooner or later." said Rebertha as she went on and ate her lunch set.

"Hmm?" suddenly Sofia notices that someone was making their way to her direction.

"What's wrong?" asked Sarah.

"...I think Martha from Class A is walking her way here." said Sofia as she looked a bit nervous.

"Oh! Oh my god! There she is!" Suddenly Remmy shouts from his chair as he stands to point out to another completely different direction Martha.

"What?" asked Sarah.

"My Angel!!" screamed Remmy.

"Eh?" Sarah turned her head to where Remmy was screeching at like a little fangirl and saw that a certain blonde noble with red lips was making her way to their table.

"Shoot…isn't she in the second year?" said Sofia.

"Yeah…what's she doing here in the First year's cafeteria?" asked Sarah.

"Who cares, I finally get to see my guiding angel in such a long time!" said Remmy

"Its been just a week since you last saw her, you dingus." said Sarah.

"Why does it feel like she's making her way here?"asked Rebertha.

"I don't know, but it's the same with Martha on the other side. It feels like the two are making their way to our table."said Sarah.

"*Sigh…* okay, whatever you guys do, don't talk unless spoken to. These guys are high ranking nobles that go for blood. So Remmy, shut your trap." said Rebertha as she proceeds to prepare herself for what may come.

When the two nobles of high ranking families finally came to their table, the entire students in the cafeteria suddenly turned silent from their chatting and looked their way.

"Hmm, his not here?" said Martha.

"Where is he?" asked Evangeline in a rather pompous and noble-like way.

"Can I ask who you are looking for?" asked Rebertha in a reserved way.

"I'm looking for a boy named Hamil." said Evangeline.

"So am I." said Martha.

"Oh, I don't think he's here at the moment." said Sofia in the same reserved way as Rebertha.

"Where is he then?" asked Evangeline.

"He was out to get some coffee by the vending machine." answered Rebertha.

"I see. Then if he ever returns to this table, please tell him that I called for him and that he must meet me in this location by 7:00 pm." said Evangeline as she handed a card written with address to Rebertha.

"What's your reason for calling out to him in such a late time, Evangeline?" asked Martha.

"Hmph! It is not of your concern." Said Evangeline in a pompous way.

"And pray tell, what is your reason for coming at this table, Martha?" asked Evangeline.

"I came here to thank him for what he did yesterday…that's all." said Martha.

"I see…"

"!!"

"!!"

Suddenly a weird presence was felt in the area. Almost as if two monsters were glaring at each other with menacing force.

But soon the two separated. Martha returned to her table and Evangeline left the cafeteria.

"Hmm, that was weird." said Sarah as he munched on her food.

"Yeah, I guess some people caught Hamil's potential…I envy that." said Sofia.

"..." Remmy on the other hand was found frozen on his seat with eyes white as snow. He was like this for that fact that the presence of his guiding angel was too much for him and the fact that Hamil caught her attention made him lose all sense of faith and reality, to a point that he was left like an empty shell.

Having a girl go for another man instead of him broke his sense of belief in his life.

"Hmm, looks like Remmy fainted." said Sarah.

"I wonder why?" asked Rebertha.

Back to the roof, Hamil was found sipping on his can of coffee while the sniper named Eric was here with reason.

"...I'm here to talk." said the sniper.

"What about?" suddenly Hamil forces a threatening glare to Eric's direction and it caused Eric to flinch.

"...A-a certain someone wants you to watch over a certain student of this school. They plan to reward you for your work." said the sniper.

"Someone wants to hire me?" assumed Hamil.

"Yes…during the time at the class rumble event, a lot of nobles were attending the event and some were intrigued by your skill. Your ability to use the shield was more impressive than any normal hunters my age. They are impressed by your skill and they want to hire you."

"...they plan to make me as a shield for this person?"

"They want you to protect a certain student. I can't say who…not until you agree to accepting the job."

"..."

"If you wanna know the payment for this job, its 250,000 ence per week." said Eric.

"...and if I refuse?"

"...then I'll leave you alone. But please know that beyond everything that I said…please know that this is a request that the client really wants you to take on." said Eric but with a concerned expression.

"Can I meet this client of yours?" asked Hamil.

"I.." but before Eric could answer the question, his phone rang and he quickly picks up the call.

"Hello?"

"Ah…I see."

"...Okay then…yes sir."

"..." Eric turned silent as the phone call finishes. He then proceeds to look at Hamil with a cautious expression.

"You can meet the client." said Eric.

"..." Hamil was a bit quiet after hearing those words and soon he looks to the empty can of coffee in his hand with a bit of doubting mind.

"...Where can I meet this person?"

"!!" Eric was shocked to hear those words come out of Hamil's mouth. He expected him to reject the offer as any normal teen would do. He thought of many reasons why Hamil should reject this. But the wanting to meet the client could only mean that Hamil want's to negotiate…

"Are you enticed by the money?" asked Eric.

"...Maybe."

"I see. Well, if you plan to meet with the client then I can only ask you to meet me in this location at 10:00 PM tonight." said Eric as he tossed a card to Hamil like a throwing star.

Hamil caught the card with his two fingers and noticed an address written on it.

He wasn't familiar with the address of this location so if he wanted to come by this place, he could only show this to the taxi driver.

As he finished looking into the writing, he turned back to see the sniper but noticed that Eric was already gone.

"Hmm…I should get back to the cafeteria.

'I can only think of one person that comes to mind at this time of the novel…' thought Hamil as he made his way back to the cafeteria.
