Chapter 13: Chapter 13

Ivory screamed again, “Joshua!” and again, “Joshua!” and still he’d yet to move a muscle. Not a twitch, not a flip or a flop, nothing. If she hadn’t checked his pulse moments prior she would have been convinced he was dead; she took a hold over each shoulder and began to shake him, making loud inchoherent noises in attempts to wake him. When her actions changed nothing she stood up and began to pace, crying with fear and panic.

And then a weak, familiar voice. “You should have spoke a little louder,” Joshua said, holding up a limp wrist.

Ivory’s sobs exploded into glee as she ran over to him and dropped to her knees, taking his hand in hers. “Oh my god, Joshua!” She said, growing close as she could get, “what happened to you? Can you move?”
