Chapter 48: Forty Six

  In the room she shared with Ralph, or had until about a week ago, Kate paced the floor nibbling on one of her manicured fingernails.

"I need to get pregnant," she muttered her face paled remembering the conversation between her and Ralph, and his ultimatum before he decided to break their mating.

Kate scolded swinging around to look into the mirror above the dresser. "I would be pregnant by now if he wasn't shooting blanks."

She dismissed the fact that she slept with plenty of men within the last few years since she mated with Ralph and had never gotten pregnant.

"Ethan is my last, and only, hope," she whispered staring at her reflection when a thoughtful look crossed her face. "But if I don't get pregnant, then I can fall back on Ethan. He isn't an Alpha, but if I play my cards right and a few words of encouragement in Ethan's ear, then maybe I can make my dream a reality again."
