Chapter 82: Chapter 81: Hero Ranking
[Kaede POV]
"Kaede-chan, it's starting!" Ochako shouted from across the room.
"Ok, I will be there soon!" I yelled back as I finished brewing my tea and hurriedly went to the lounge.
I sat next to Mina and Ochako, and together, we watched the television screen.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the Japanese Pro Hero Ranking Announcement!" The commentator announced through the television. Today's ranking was special as it was the first time ALL Might won't appear on the ranking!"
The crowd applauded as the floor of the giant stage started to open, and ten people were elevated onto the stage. I cheered when I saw my onii-chan at the centre of the group. When the top ten heroes were on stage, the commentator revealed the current ranking for pro-heroes

No. 2 Hero: Endeavor
No. 3 Hero: Hawks
No. 4 Hero: Best Jeanist
No. 5 Hero: Edgeshot
No. 6 Hero: Mirko
No. 7 Hero: Crust

[3rd POV]
"Hey hey, Enji-san, you must be jealous that Itachi took first place right?" Keigo (Hawks) whispered and nudged Endeavour's shoulder.
But to his surprise, Enji answered calmly: "It's not a simple feat to defeat All for one. Itachi earned it."
"Are you truly Endeavour and not an imposter?" Keigo replied with shock, and it was well known among the heroes that Itachi and Enji have some sort of rivalry. But now, the competitiveness seemed to disappear in a span of a night miraculously!
Enji was about to reply but was interrupted as the top ten heroes were told to voice their comments about their ranking. When it was finally Itachi's turn, he took the microphone and ran his fingers along the edges of his Kasa hat. He stared into the crowd, and his usual cold expression unnerved some people while others thought it was very cool.
At this moment all Itachi was thinking of was what would his little sister do in this situation. Kaede has the ability to motivate people and unite them, which is something Itachi lacks and he admires her because of it.
He took a deep breath: "Heroes were the protector of society as we fight the darkness so the people can live in the light and as the number one hero, I won't disappoint you. Even if I don't live up to the same level as All Might, I will make sure that none of you will ever have to face that darkness.
I won't fail..."
The crowd were stunned. They could feel the weight of Itachi's every word. There was silence before thunderous applause sounded in the room as the audience celebrated the new number-one hero.
"Wow, Kaede-chan, you brother sure know how to be awesome," Mina said with stars in her eyes as she watched the event.
After Itachi's statement, the event goes on for a little while until the pro-heroes finally left the stage; Kaede stood up from the couch: "Okay, I'm going back to my room now; I still have to finish some leftover homework."
Without waiting for her friend's response, Kaede hurriedly left. Mina and Ochako glanced at each other. They felt something was wrong but they couldn't really pinpoint what was it.
Their worries were correct; in an empty warehouse, a man wearing a white theatre mask was staring at the five giant nomu in front of him.
"I would have preferred soulless puppets..... They worked way better than living garbage like you. Kugutsu muttered.
The nomu growled, but they didn't do anything, Kugutsu smirked: "I guess in a way you already are... Hood, you will lead, I want Red Crow and Endeavour dead, understood?"
"Your wish is our command." The nomu named Hood answered in a low and hoarse voice. He slowly stood up and leapt high into the air, creating a giant hole in the warehouse's ceiling, and the rest of the high-end nomu followed along.
Kugutsu looked at the giant hole and scoffed as he left the warehouse.
Back to the heroes, Keido invited Enji and Itachi to have dinner at a yakitori restaurant on top of a sky scrapper building.
"So, you must have a reason for bringing us here," Enji said as he stared at Keigo.
"I need help. There been rumours that multiple nomu have been spotted in my district," Keigo explained.
"But rumours were just rumours, besides, you won't be needing both of us to take out some nomu. What was the real purpose." Itachi pointed it out.
Keigo sighed: "This won't be the best place to talk about it." He said and stared at Itachi.
The number one hero nodded and activated Tsyukomi Space.
A few seconds later...
Itachi brought Enji and Keigo back into reality. The two heroes were stunned as it was a lot to take in, from what Keigo told them, things would get more chaotic in the foreseeable future. But Itachi was not afraid. No matter what evil throws at him, he will prevail.
"Are there other things we should know?" Enji asked.
Keigo shook his head: "They're still wary of me so they haven't told me much." he said while shrugging.
He looked out the window but suddenly frowned, Enji and Itachi glanced at where Keigo was looking, and their expressions immediately darkened. Even if Itachi just made the vow, it was simply too fast...
Five huge black figures were soaring directly toward them, Enji and Itachi glared at Keigo, wanting an explanation. However, Keigo was just as confused as they were. Itachi and Enji clicked their teeth. This wasn't how they expected the dinner to go.....

Chapter 83: Chapter 82: High End Nomu
The three heroes got up, staring at the five approaching figures. Itachi frowned and felt these monsters were different: "Enji."
"I know...." Endeavour responded as flames covered his body, raising the temperature in the room.
"Hawk, evacuate the citizens," Itachi ordered as he shattered the glass window, and together with Endeavour, they jumped out to meet the nomu head-on. The glass would be destroyed regardless, so why not take the initiative?
Itachi activated Susanoo and a giant orange humanoid appeared; it zoned in on the group of nomu and unsheathed his sword. All five nomu grew wings and they dodged Itachi's attack. Thankfully, Endeavour was there to burn the creatures with his fire.
The nomu screeched in pain, but their charred skin immediately recovered. Itachi and Endeavour clicked their teeth in annoyance. Itachi and Endeavour landed on the ground, and the villains followed suit and appeared before them.
Both sides observed each other warily. The monsters looked way bigger than usual, with long necks and a weird carapace mask covering their face. One of the nomu walked to the front of its pack and growled at Itachi: "I'm Hood... You're strong... I want to fight you!" The nomu roared.
'A nomu that talked?' Itachi was stunned.
The other four nomu's masks opened, revealing their grotesque face, consisting entirely of an exposed brain, distorted red eyes, and a mouth full of long, jagged teeth. They howled and spat out multiple weird sludges in every direction. The sludge impacted the surroundings, and numerous small nomu crawled out and started chasing after the civilians.
Itachi and Endeavour clenched their fists as the five high ends pounced on Itachi: "Go! I will hold them off!" Itachi shouted and the nomu latched onto his Susanoo-like raptors, trying to tear away the Susanoo's armour with their claws.
Endeavour hesitantly nodded and quickly rushed to save the civilians. One of the nomu on Itachi's raised its fist as thrusters appeared from its elbow, the thrusters activated, and the monster smashed its fist onto Susanoo like a jackhammer.
Noticeable cracks formed from the impact, and Itachi slammed the creature to the ground before it could do any more damage. The nomu tried to recover and the hero instantly swung his sword, fully decapitating the monster. The High Ends instantly became alert and they leapt off of the Susanoo.
However, Itachi managed to catch one of the villains in Susanoo's hand. Itachi glared at the nomu with his Mangekyou Sharingan. Black flames covered the nomu's body as it howled from the pain and turned to ashes.
The three High Ends created distance between them and Itachi as they snarled at him. Itachi raised his sword and briefly analysed his injuries. His Susanoo was covered with cracks and claw marks. The nomu also tore off some of his armour, but Itachi ignores the damage and resumes his fighting stance.
Meanwhile...
The attack was being projected through the news as the reporter's helicopter was hovering above the battle. Class 1-A watched the report with concern. Suddenly Shota barged into their dorm, demanding to know where Kaede was. As their homeroom teacher, he was well aware that there was a high possibility Kaede would sneak out and help his brother.
Mina told him that Kaede's in her room studying, and Shota hurriedly walked up the stairs to check. Class 1-A followed after him, wondering what the problem was. Shota knocked on the door and was relieved to hear Kaede's voice. She opened the door and tilted her head, asking why everyone was outside her room.
"See Aizawa-sensei! Kaede-chan won't do something this reckless!" Mina proudly praised her friend and slapped Kaede on the back of the shoulder.
*Poof*
Everyone's eyes bulged out of their socket as Kaede stumbled and exploded into a cloud of smoke. Aizawa cursed. He was too late; Kaede had already left.
Seeing this, Shoto immediately sprinted to the front door to go after her, but Aizawa cancelled his quirk and restrained him with his capture weapon.
"Sensei, look!" Izuku exclaimed and pointed at the TV.
One of the High Ends spotted the helicopter and flew after it. The news crew screamed in fear, but a vast purple titan impaled the nomu with its spear. Sure enough, there was Kaede, in her Susanoo, defeating a high-end nomu.
Shota sighed: "Stay here. I will go get her." Eraser Head said as he tied Shoto up and ordered the other students to stop him if he tried to escape.
[Kaede POV]
After the JP Hero Ranking event ended, I returned to my room and changed into my hero costume. As soon as the news of the attack came out, I created a shadow clone and quietly sneaked away.
I shivered, thinking of the punishment Aizawa-sensei would give me once I returned to UA but that's the least of my concern. I was surprised that the Nomu that I had impaled was still well alive and it escaped and regrouped with the rest. Its injuries healed immediately, reminding me how strong these high ends were compared to a normal nomu. I landed next to onii-chan, ready to support him in this battle.
"Kaede!? What are you doing here?" Itachi-onii-chan shouted.
"No time to explain. Watch out!" I warned
Our talk was interrupted as Hood pounced on my Susanoo; its face suddenly opened, and it bit my Susanoo's wrist with its deadly sharp teeth. His teeth sank into the Susanoo, and I scowled in frustration. It seems like I have to work on my Susanoo a bit more. I shook my arm, trying to throw Hood away, but he latched on like a sponge as his arms lengthened and wrapped around my wrist, constricting it.
I managed to shake him off and threw Hood into the air. I swung my spear, but boosters grew out of Hood's elbow, and he safely dodged my attack.
Suddenly, dozens of red feathers pierced Hood's chest while he was in the air, dragging him away. Hood unhinged his jaw as green smoke spewed out of his mouth, melting the feathers. Hawks have returned as he coldly glared at Hood. The other High-Ends also retreated as Endeavour arrived and gave Itachi-onii-chan some breathing space.
"Onii-chan, I have a plan. Can you shoot a giant fireball into the air?" I said.
Itachi-onii-chan nodded as he launched a ball of flames high into the sky. A few seconds later, a dark cumulonimbus cloud gathers above the heroes. I nodded in satisfaction before raising my hand.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath as I concentrated. There was a faint sound of electricity crackling in the clouds, and the sounds were getting louder as I used my chakra to wrestle control of the thunder.
Hood and the high-ends must have realised what I was planning, and they charged to stop me. But they were stopped by onii-chan, Endeavour, and Hawks. Seeing it wasn't working, the three nomu desperately tried to escape.
Unfortunately, for them, it was too late. My eyes snapped open as I finished charging up my attack: "Kirin!" I yelled and brought my hand down.
The lightning transformed into a dragon-like creature with four legs and hooves. It roared before diving down at my enemies.
*BOOOM*
The Kirin strikes the Nomu cleanly, and a vast dust cloud obscures our vision; once it dissipates, it reveals a massive crater and the three charred corpses of the nomu. We all sighed in relief that the battle was over, and the civilians and reporters close to the scene also cheered loudly.
"We did it!" I said happily and reached my hand out for a high five.
However, no one made a move and I felt a cold aura behind me. I slowly turned around, and Aizawa-sensei glared down at me: "Let alone sneaking out of the school. I have strictly told you not to use that move. Do you have any idea how much trouble you're in?"
I gulped and glanced at the rest of the heroes for help, but they ignored me like I wasn't even there. Even my onii-chan averted his gaze, and I felt betrayed.
"Sorry, Kaede, I know you wanted to help but sneaking out of UA and fighting the nomu was nothing but foolish," Itachi-onii-chan said while sighing.
I whimpered as Aizawa-sensei lifted me by the back of the collar and carried me away.
[3rd POV]
In the distance, Kugutsu watched the battle on top of a building: "Doctor, the nomu failed." He said on his phone.
"That's a shame. Well, they're still a work in progress. Anyway, just get back." Doctor Garaki ordered.
"Understood," Kugutsu said before hanging up the phone. He stared at the heroes one last time before leaving.
Brief Time Skip.....
When the two finally returned to UA, Shota Aizawa scolded Kaede harshly. Her friends also didn't show her mercy as they were all apprehensive about her. Mikoto and Fugaku also scolded her on the phone.
In the end, Kaede had house arrest for a week. The punishment was supposed to be much more severe but count the fact that without Kaede being there, things probably would've got way worse, which was one thing everyone was thankful for.
