Chapter 5: Chapter 5: First Meetings

Mary leaned against the cool stone of the club's outer wall, slightly fidgeting with the hem of her dress every now and then. Her signature red gloves weren't spared her nervous scrutiny, either. Rocco glanced at her and just chuckled at his old friend.

“Of all the times I've seen you wear that dress, you pick now to get self-conscious?”

“Shut the hell up, Rocc, or I swear to God.” Mary fumed, hands on her hips. “I just want this to go off without a hitch. This is an important merger for the both of us. I mean, it's the Flannigans for Christ's sake! People would kill and have killed to have an opportunity like this, but here they are, handing an alliance to us on a silver platter.”

“So, that means you're on board with entertaining his son?” Rocco ventured cautiously with a hopeful smile.
