70% ENDLESS POTENTIAL IN THE AFTERLIFE / Chapter 7: Potential-Type!

Chapter 7: Potential-Type!

Potential-type.

The power to destroy the power of others seamlessly, and grant the user unbelievable boosts. Ian sprinted past the beginning of this golden path as he activated his [Skill Shop] once more.

Without even skimming through the list once more, he opened a description of the most expensive potential-type skill, which had cost 150 wisps.

{Force Shield:

A Novice-rank skill capable of defending against powerful foes. Allies within 5 yards of the user can be defended through Force Shield. The user's potential rank determines the enemy rank Force Shield can defend against. If a user has Novice potential, then the user can defend against 3 attacks released from a Beginner-rank enemy. The highest possible enemy rank Force Shield can defend against is ¡ƒ∫••ª¡.

Cooldown: 1 minute}

The highest rank [Force Shield] could defend against was censored, which was similarly shown during the description for [Mind Break]. This led Ian to presume he was capable of using his new potential-type skills against even the most formidable of foes he came across. No longer was he willing to be eradicated from a single wave of a hand from enemies such as the moonsprite.

After thinking things over for another two minutes, Ian decided to up his strength too. His [Rock Throw] and [Blade Slash] were both highly effective when spammed were highly effective, he needed an offensive skill that allowed him to easily throw out a powerful attack in one fell swoop.

2 skills instantly caught his eye, as they were perfect in every way for a man who has the luck of deities. Ian swiftly bought [Multiplier] for 40 wisps and [Flame Gale] for 60 wisps, leaving him with only 250 wisps, which meant that he spent half of the loot he got from the moonsprite. Although he could buy more skills, he planned to wait until he could figure out how to pass to the Beginner rank. There was a possibility that new skills would be available once he became more powerful since all the skills available currently were merely Novice-rank.

Ian zoomed in on the stat descriptions for both [Multiplier] and [Flame Gale], as they held hidden powers that could make him unstoppable against enemies a rank higher.

{Multiplier --

At a base level, critical hits double damage. However, critical hits done consecutively will boost the multiplier of critical hits past x2. Each consecutive critical hit increases the multiplier by x.1. 10 consecutive critical hits will result in a x3 critical hit multiplier, and so on so forth.

Cooldown: PASSIVE ABILITY}

*BOOM*

To the regular person, this skill would be utterly useless, since critical hits were extremely rare. Every 30 years in the afterlife, an average of 10 critical hits occurred. Having consecutive critical hits was simply not possible unless a person had godlike luck or endless potential. Ian imagined the stretched-out battles like the one he had with the moonsprite, and how he would be able to grow to unimaginable lengths of power by the end of them.

His excitement didn't end there, however, as there was still the other skill that caught his eye, [Flame Gale]

{Flame Gale -- Summoning a fraction of the power of ¡¢£¶¡ªº¢, conjure a flame ball the size of a car to burn any that defy you to ashes over time. [Flame Gale] has two parts, the initial contact with an enemy, which causes half the total damage of [Flame Gale], and the burning effect after contact. An inextinguishable fire lays on the enemy for 30 seconds, slowly burning them to finish inflicting the total damage of [Flame Gale]. A total of 31 attacks are inflicted when this skill has completed its function, and each attack has a chance to be a critical hit.

Cooldown: 10 seconds}

Destruction! That's the only thing Ian imagined when he eventually used this skill on enemies. With both of his new skills, he would be able to rack up a multiplier beyond his imagination and allow his [Flame Gale] to reach the capability of even destroying armies!
