Cain stood at the edge of the driveway between the road and the church with his arms crossed, watching as the garbage truck hauled away the items from the church. After hearing the female spirit call Sammy's name on the digital feed, and worse, seeing her reaction again, he'd had enough. The first thing they did, after calling the owner for permission, was take everything out of the church-the cross, the ritual items, all of it. He wasn't leaving anything there that could be used to harm any of the crew.

He drew in a calming breath and tilted his face toward the sun, allowing the warmth to seep into his skin. He hadn't felt warm since arriving in Nebraska. Well, not unless he counted when he'd kissed Sammy. The need to do it again turned that warmth molten.
