Chapter 15: Chapter 15: A Discovery

They were back. I can hardly believe it. They had the audacity to come back to the border of our lands, just a few days after we trailed them back to their own pack lands. One of my Omegas came in late this morning, the day after my epic argument with Zariah, and told me they’d found more track marks, and now I’m fuming.

All I wanted to do was break something.

“All right,” I tell the Omega who came in to tell me. “I’ll get a detail together. Thanks.” I send him out and return to my desk, trying to decide who to bring and what to do.

I need my Beta—my actual Beta—to help me make this decision, so I call Patrick in with my mind-link capability.

“I’m on the other side of the pack lands, Alpha,” he tells me. “I’m running with the new Omega patrol members this morning.”

“Sh*t,” I swear under my breath. “All right. Stay out there,” I tell him. At times like this, I wish I could’ve chosen my own Beta.
