Chapter 24: Unfamiliar Player

Ling didn't like the attitude of his opponent, so teach him a lesson, he decided to humiliate Jorle in front of everyone. For him, he didn't care even if he have to humiliate someone. Why? He experienced this in the past for a few years, so it would be better if he let them taste their own medicine at least once.

To begin with, Ling changed the pacing of his dribbling, seeing Jorle was having a hard time watching the ball with his naked eyes. It was not that fast, he was just adding simple hesitation which made it hard for Jorle to anticipate.

Swoosh!

Soon, he dashed toward the rim. Well, he had an idea Jorle would change wherever he went, so stopped for a second to switch the tempo and proceed again. By doing that, Jorle stumbled on his footing as he thought Ling was taking off. Or to be exact, he jumped to mid-air as he took the bait.

Now, the only thing he could see was Ling attaining a closer within the basket. As soon as he was standing at the right distance, he dunked the battle with one hand.

Blag!

The loud sound of the backboard echoing was the only thing they could hear. At the same time, all of them were blinking their eyes in surprise, knowing that was a clean attack to eliminate his opponent.

Bam!

After hanging on the rim for almost 4 seconds, Ling smoothly landed on the surface while in front of him was the ball. "That's two. What would you do right now?"

Because of those words, Jorle flinched as he regained his wits. "W-What did you say?" He stuttered and looked around, knowing it could be enough reason to belittle by the others.

"Are you deaf?" Ling didn't know why he talked like this, but he was enjoying it.

"You..." Jorle gritted his teeth. Yet, this time he was controlling his emotion since Mr. Den could terminate him with that.

Mr. Den was well savvied in the scenario that might happen, that's why he was sharply looking at Joule. After that, he raised his finger as he was giving a warning.

Meanwhile, the current score was 10-1. It seemed like when the moment Ling had the ball possession, Jorle didn't have a chance to hold it again. Although there were some, it was just simple ball touches.

Grr...

Jorle was gritting his teeth while the place was enveloped by a deafening silence. Of course, it was a natural reaction for the audience since one of the starting five of Hunei University was scoreless against the unfamiliar player.

Ling raised his index finger and had a faint smile on his face. "I only need to score one point to win." He said, then went to the three-point line to reposition. "Before we start I want to give you a warning. You better watch out."

Swoosh!

As soon as he said those words, he didn't make any second thoughts to shoot the ball at the three-point line. In his mind, even though he didn't play too much, still, talent was talent. That's why he was confident that the ball was going in.

Jorle was blinking his eyes in confusion, didn't expect this man would shoot the ball distance. It was near to the logo, aside from that, shooting the ball at a close distance was the best thing to do to secure the victory.

Swish!

The ball went in along with the satisfying sound given by the net. "I guess that's a perfect victory." He said to Jorle, then turned around as he was about to leave.

"S-Stop right there! L-Let's have a rematch! To be honest, I didn't expect that you are that good, so I didn't take our match seriously." Jorle stuttered.

Well, this was the only thing he can do to avoid the criticisms from the other players and the audience that was cheering for him.

Ling just glance at him for a second and turned around again. "What do you want me to do? Plus, that's not my problem though." He coldly replied, then went to Hary.

Hary gave him a high five and had a broad smile on his face. "Those are sweet moves, Ling. Good job!" He congratulated him in a cheerful tone.

"Hehe, I'm just quite lucky." After drinking water, he backed his gaze at him. "Hary, it seems like we can't play since after this I have to go to my part-time job."

He was looking at the transparent glass above him, seeing the sky had red-orange color, signifying that the sun was about to disappear.

Hary shook his head, "Don't worry about it, Ling. We could play tomorrow since it's a weekend." He responded and looked at their coach that still had a surprised expression on his face. "Coach, close your mouth might the fly enter to that."

Mr. Den flinched as Hary's words put back his senses. Now, he went closer to Ling and tightly pinched his cheeks. "This is my boy! All of you did you see how good he is!"

Mr. Den can control his emotion as he found out that his intuition about this young man was right. In fact, it surpassed his expectation. Well, the true gist of the one-on-one basketball match was to see what things he have to change or train Ling. Plus, he thought Ling would lose against Jorle, but he was wrong in the end.

"Stop, coach Den. Ling doesn't like too much exposure, especially, to those students. And look at him, he's quite uncomfortable so it would be better if you stop right now." Hary murmured, then stepped a back little bit. "Coach Den, what is your decision? Ling had a job after this so make a decision right away so that we can avoid wasting his precious time."

"Is that so? Hahaha!" Mr. Den chuckled before adding these words. "The ability he showed in the one-on-one match was enough reason to take him in. Ling, you should prepare on Monday, that's the start of your training."

"Yeah..."

Mr. Den left the area after that, to handle the other students that would like to join the varsity team. In his mind, he have to find some players that had potential since Hary and Ling were now seniors, which means they only had one year to play for Hunei University.

Soon, Ling changed his attire into a school uniform again. Now, they were walking in the hallway as they were about to leave. Moreover, Ling asked important questions to Hary.

"Hary, how I could change the monster's cores into real money?"

"Oh, are you planning to exchange then immediately? Why do need money?" Hary said?

"Not necessarily. But I think I earn enough, at the same time, I'm quite curious how I could get some money from the game since this is the first time I played this kind of game." Ling explained.

"First, how much did you earn? Since 100 dollars is the minimum amount to proceed to withdrawal transaction."

"If I guess it right, I think it's around 200 dollars or higher than that."

"200 dollars? In three days with a short gaming time? Really?"
