Chapter 6: Basketball Match

After Ling clicked the icon that can be found on the screen, his existence in the virtual reality world immediately disappeared. Nevertheless, he had a broad smile on his face as somehow he was enjoying the excitement and satisfaction provided by this game.

Soon, he ate and prepared himself for his part-time job.

The next day.

It was around 7:30 AM and the sun had barely risen causing a dull gray sky while a gentle breeze smoothly rubbed his skin. Through this, it was enough reason to feel even more sleepy as he walked on the corner of the main road.

"It's hard for me to have midnight shift, I can't get enough sleep that I want. But what I could do, that's only my free time." He yawned and wiped the sleepy tears in the corner of his eyes. "Also, I should forget about that game while I'm in the class so that I can focus on my study."

Alas, Ling arrived at University, the most prestigious University in Japan. To describe, Hunei was well known for having a good reputation, smart and competitive students, lastly, their trademark and was having numerous wealthy students that kept supporting the University.

This guy again?!

Why he does keep going to this prestigious University with his lowly appearance?!

He's shameless.

As expected, those students starting badmouthed him after Ling entered the huge gate. It seemed like, their day was incomplete every time they can't bully him.

'Here we go again... Those rich kids who are depending on their parent's wealth talking big at me.' He secretly smirked before adding these words inside his head. 'Yeah, I understand that they deserved their wealth since their parents work really hard to achieve all the things that they had. But the gist of it, I would like them to treat me as a human being even though I'm living in the bottom tier of life.'

He slid the door open, then went to his desk located in the back row near the huge transparent window. In the right place where he could see the other students coming into this University with their expensive cars like Ferrari, Tesla, Lamborghini, etc.

You suck!

If I were you, I'm going to leave this University to have a better life!

Ling, do you want a job? I know you want it, then I'll give you 1000$ per month, but your job, you have to wipe my ass after I finished pooping.

Those words were written on his desk, which made him wonder why these people were so mad at him, even though he never did anything to make them angry.

At this juncture, it came to his mind to fight back. 'What if I smacked their faces one by one-?' He paused and gradually shook his head. 'No, I can't do that. My little sister still needs me, I don't want to burden her future just because of my foolish decision.'

Ling removed the ink written on his desk by using alcohol and wipes. When he finished, it was the exact time when Hary entered the room.

Their beautiful classmates greet Hary in a seductive tone, hoping they can date a handsome and athletic man like him.

Yet, Hary doesn't pay too much attention to them, knowing they were doing that as they were aware that he came from a wealthy family. Instead, he waved his hand at Ling that has long a glance at the window.

"Oi, good morning, Ling! Did you enjoy playing Ranker's World Online?" Hary approached him in an energetic tone.

Hearing that voice, Ling knew that was his best friend. So he excitedly took a glance at him, wanting to thank him personally for giving the console.

"Good morning, Hary! And Yes! I really enjoyed that game...!"

Suddenly, he decided to not finish his sentence as he noticed the heavy ambiance of this room. Or to be exact, everyone was looking at him with furious eyes because of what he replied.

Hary had an idea why his best friend stopped, that's why he looked around and checked the surroundings. He saw the students were looking at them and eventually changed their glance at the board. But still, they can't stop their mouths murmuring around about Ling.

What Hary had just said? That poor guy is playing the Ranker's Realm Online?

Who bought it? Ling?

It isn't obvious? Of course, it's Hary. How a poor guy like him can buy an expensive game duh... Also, even though he worked for a couple of years, it's impossible for him to buy that console.

Hahaha! Once I saw him in the game I'm going to PK him.

At this point, Hary can't control his emotion. "One more word and I promise, all of you that here going to see the afterlife." He said seriously.

Just like that, the ruckus easily disappeared as they seemed afraid of what were Hary's capabilities. Then, he sat next to Ling and smiled.

"Don't mind them, Ling. Just tell me what is your perspective about the game."

After Ling sighed, he also smiled as he was glad that there's one student here doesn't afraid to protect him from those rich kids.

"Well, I can say for now it's a nice game and somehow I enjoyed it." He replied.

Hary chuckled while mildly tapping the desk. "I knew it! You are the person who I know will like that kind of game. It looks realistic, isn't it?"

"Yeah, it's realistic. The pain, exhaustion, the place, and even the smell of surroundings are the same in the real world. Apart from that, every time I fight a monster there's a thrill kept popping inside my chest." He responded nonchalantly.

For the first time, Hary saw the true smile of Ling. "It's good to hear, Ling. But, what kind of monsters did you fight? Slime? Bee? Or the giant mosquito?"

He looked at the ceiling and gently rubbed his chin, recalling the monsters' names that he fought.

"If I'm right before I logged out of the game I faced three goblins and the Verenomous Rabbit, that's the first monster I killed."

And once again, Hary chuckled while hardly tapping Ling's shoulders. "You are amazing! You have already experienced fighting a strong monster. So tell me, how many times did you die before you finally killed them?"

"Die? I didn't die there yesterday." He responded in a clueless tone.

Hary's eyes widened after hearing these. In his opinion, a beginner like Ling should master the monster's pattern before he can kill it. Or easy to say, he has to die at least once or twice in order to be familiar with the monster's attack.

"Hahaha! You are interesting, and can't wait for you to reach level 10 so we can play together." Hary said in an excitement

"Eh? Level 10? Why we can't play after the class?" He asked him.

"Oh, that's right, I didn't mention that. For you to leave the tutorial area, you should be at least level 10 or higher." Hary scratched the back of his head. "I'm sorry, Ling, I'm in hurry yesterday that's why I did not tell you."

"Why are you apologizing, Hary?" And all of a sudden, he slightly bowed his head at Hary. "Thank you for giving me this opportunity to earn extra money and let me feel this enjoyment. I promise I'm going to pay you soon."

"Stop that, Ling, and lift your head. You are making me embarrassed." He used his index finger to squeeze his nose while looking at the different sides. "Also, we are best friends. That's why I'm helping you!"

"Yes! Thank you so much!"

Professor entered and started the class.

...

Ling and Hary finished eating their lunch on the university's rooftop where they can feel more comfortable. After that, one hour had passed and they went to the locker to change their attire into P.E uniforms.

It was a white T-shirt had a large university logo on its back and red shorts.

Inside the vast gymnasium, a middle-aged man who had blond hair, a mustache, a healthy body, and looked like an American citizen approached them.

"I'm Mr. Den Washington, I'm the basketball team coach of Hunei University, and also your new P.E class teacher." After he introduced himself, he directed to the point. "In the meantime, since some of the girls here had asthma, and whatsoever they called it just to skip this physical activity. We will go for the boys, so raised your hands if you want to join in the basketball match. Except you, Hary."

Mr. Den explained why Hary can't join in the basketball match. He was just protecting him to wouldn't receive any injuries since he was the star player of Hunei University.

"Coach, that's unfair! I would like to play with my friend!" Hary tried to convince him.

"That's my final decision, Hary. Also, I need you later for the upcoming match, so it's way better if you rest right now."

"Okay, then! But please include this man in the basketball match or else I'll not play later for the team, hehe." He was talking about Ling.

"Eh? Why me? I'm good watching at the bench." Ling replied.

"Did you say to me, that you used to play basketball, isn't it? Then show it to me!" Hary spun around going back to the bench. "Good luck, Ling! Show me your skills!"

"Hey! Hary! Wait!"

"Hary said it, so you have to do it! Or else I'll fail you with my class."

"The hell?"

On the other hand, while Hary heading to the bench. His women classmates started talking about him and eventually asked their woman calmly sitting and going to watch the upcoming basketball match.

She had silky black hair, blue eyes, an angelic face, a bust chest, and a sexy body. Her name was Isabella Aoki, her mother was an Italian while her father was a successful Japanese Businessman.

Of course, someone like her was a famous girl at Hunei University. Why? Because she was a smart girl, beautiful, rich, and athletic. But one they weren't aware that this woman was one of the best rankers in the Ranker's Realm Online.

"Hey, Isabella, do you mind if I ask you some questions?" A woman with orange-brown hair and red cheek asked her.

"What is it, Reya?" Isabella responded in a sweet tone, just to pretend that she was happy with these scumbag women they do all day to mock others and spent their money on the useless items.

"What is your like in a man? Someone like Hary? Or David?"

David handsome boy a player of rugby.

"Well, Hary is a kind guy and good-looking. But I'm not interested in him." She replied without making any second thoughts.

"Is that so, Isabella. Why don't tell me what is your types, so we can find the right one for you?" Another girl suggested.

"Honestly, it never came to my mind about that, I want to focus on my studies." Isabella said with a smile, 'Jeez, the only thing I like is a player who can defeat me in my world.' She uttered to her mind.

"As expected answer from you, Isabella!"

LET'S BEGIN THE BASKETBALL MATCH!
