Chapter 144: Dead Bodies

"Are you ready?" 

Iris nodded and zip up her jacket. She was carrying a piece of pointed wood. At first, she was adamant about carrying it for it seemed laughable. They were like a bunch of lousy characters from a cheap horror film. 

Theo was wearing a huge and heavy silver crucifix around his neck. He also had a pointed wood, just like the one that he had given to Iris as a kind of weapon against the vampires that could be loitering upstairs. 

Iris tried to reason out of carrying such items but Theo got mad, saying it may not be true that they could immobilize a vampire by pushing a sharp pointed wood on its chest but it was better to be prepared than be sorry later.
