Chapter 25: Shocking News
Next Day.
Rose was awakened by the sound of her phone vibrating like crazy. It felt like she wanted to curse someone who texted her with so many messages. She grabs her cell phone, which is on the nightstand.
Still half asleep, she forced her eyes open. With difficulty, she opened her eyelids, trying to see the phone screen. She was shocked. Her still hazy mind suddenly became clear. Her eyes opened wide, looking at the cellphone screen.
Many notifications from her Instagram account. She is not an active user of social media, as can be seen from the number of her followers. Her followers can be counted by fingers. She made her social media account only because a friend asked her to register. In fact, there was only 1 photo she had uploaded on her Instagram, the photo of the twilight that she captured at that time and she named her Instagram that, Twilight.
But now, many notifications are from her Instagram account. Who sent her many direct messages? She feels weird.
Her head felt hurt when she noticed notifications from her social media and got a lot of messages from her classmate's group chat. And a few missed calls from Evan.
She opened her close friend's group chat and, in shock, she read the message.
[James] Rose, are you dating Evan?
[Danny] OMG! Are really broke up with Dustin and dated Evan!
[James] Danny, Rose never dated, Dustin!
[ Randy ] Evan, can you clarify what happened here? Why did you suddenly date Rose?
[Danny] Wohooo, chill bro, I'm just kidding, alright!
Instantly Rose felt her head spinning.
Why do they all know? Even though they have not published their relationship in the group. How the hell do they know about their dating?
Feeling confused, Rose closed the group chat and opened her Instagram. When she read the inbox, she found an inbox from Oliver. Her old friend.
[@twilight_east Heartless girl! You're finally free from his spell, huh? Congrats on your new boyfriend! Let's meet at the usual place to celebrate with a beer!?]
"What the hell is happening now? Even Oliver, the caveman, knows that she is dating Evan!" Rose was really puzzled. Before she replied to Oliver, suddenly she felt like dying when she read another Instagram inbox from her classmate.
Her hand was shaking. After reading the message, she threw away her cell phone.
"My God! Someone took a picture of Evan and me at the cinema?" Rose murmured in shock. Couldn't believe what she saw.
How can they post the photos on the campus forums? Never once had she heard of a scandal like this. Things unrelated to college activities are prohibited from being published in the college's forum.
Too embarrassed to see the campus forum, Rose got up and walked to the window. Her mind is fuming like someone just made a campfire there. She was furious that someone had humiliated her. Who? If she knew, she would repay them.
After taking a deep sigh and feeling her heart a little calmer, Rose looked at her phone again and tried to contact Evan.
Last night Evan told her he would return to the capital because there were family matters he should attend to. And he won't be back in South City until Monday.
Afraid to interrupt Evan, Rose decides to text him.
[Rose] Evan, if you have time. Please call me…
After typing, she threw her cell phone on her bed and rushed to the bathroom to clean up. As she came out of the bathroom, she heard the sound of her cell phone ringing.
"Evan!"
"Morning Rose... You just woke up?" Evan's comfortable voice from the other end made Rose much calmer.
"No. I've been up since earlier... Evan, did you read our college forum?"
"Hmm..."
"What to do? Will there be any problems with us?" Rose was worried because, in a few days, they would have their final exams and graduate from campus. Still, some people just publish their private life on the campus forum for fun. It makes her angry.
"Don't worry too much. I have already handled everything. You don't need to respond!" Since last night after returning to his apartment, he already knew about the post.
Luckily he found out earlier, so only some students saw the post before he asked the forum admin to delete it and block the anonymous account that posted the picture. But Evan didn't stop there. He also asked his security people to trace anyone who uploaded it. His team has managed to get the perpetrator's identity. Now, they are sending a warning. And Evan is already thinking about what kind of action to punish the perpetrator.
But despite all the annoying nosey people, he is happy that now everyone knows he is dating Rose.
"Hmm… I will follow your arrangement. I will not say anything."
"What are you going to do today?"
"I want to go to the hospital…."
"W-What? Why do you go to the hospital? Are you feeling unwell?" Evan stood from his seat and walked outside his bedroom. Trying to go back to the East city to meet her.
"I'm fine… but I want to bring my mother for a medical check-up." Evan stopped his step and quietly took a deep sigh. Just a moment ago, he really wanted to fly to East City to meet her right away
"You know, that night, I was so scared of myself that I suddenly fainted. So, I forced my mother to do a medical check-up too. Just wanted to know if my mom is healthy. I can't imagine if she suddenly had a serious illness, Evan…" Rose continued her words.
"That's good, Rose. I will call the hospital director to arrange anything for you there…."
"Evan, no need. I've made an appointment. I have to be there at 9 this morning…." Rose is surprised to know Evan also knows the hospital director. It will be troublesome if the hospital director handles her mother's medical check-up directly, right?
"Fine if you don't want it. But, make sure to call me if you have a problem!?"
"Hmm... I will. I have to go now. I miss you, Evan." Rose was stupefied to hear her own seductive voice. Gosh!
