He signaled for his assistant to come over and after apologizing with a friendly handshake, then headed on to the conference room with the guidance of the receptionist. 

The room was filled to the brim, except for the two seats reserved for Matt and Braxton. News of his earlier ruthlessness had already spread like wildfire so when he entered the conference room, a hush fell so much that only his and Matt's footsteps could be heard. He sat poised in his seat as the board chairman made the necessary introductions.
