"You have no actual reasons to reject this alliance. This has been Marcello's dream for a long time. To unite the 24 territories and stop the rivalry between our families."

"I have no reasons to reject it," Luca told Basilio Protacio, "but I also have no reasons to accept it. Let's be honest here, Protacio. We don't need you as an ally."

Dante tugged Luca underneath the table to stop him, but Luca seemed like he didn't care if he sparked a war.

"And we could easily overthrow your territories. It's not like we can't steal your territories, we just didn't."

Basilio winced at Luca's arrogance but didn’t say anything and just took a sip at his rum.

"If you tell me the real reason why you're suddenly willing to form an alliance, maybe I would change my mind."

Basilio stopped for a second to think.

And Luca smirked. 'I knew it. There's more to this alliance than just uniting the territories.'
