Zoe racked her brain trying to think if there were any subtle signs of anything existing between them, but she came up empty-handed. Dylan was clear that his relationship with her was never going to lead anywhere and that the only reason she was in his life was that she knew his identity. But then again, they were friends. She helped him out and did things for him.
Their relationship was odd. Zoe didn’t understand it. But, Dylan had agreed to keep things professional and since that agreement, he never broke his promise.
Zoe didn’t go after her. She also didn’t respond. She said nothing. She kept her mouth shut, completed her work, and said nothing.
When Dylan came to take her out for lunch, she refused. She showed him the stack of papers on her desk, and he obliged to leave her be. Luckily for her, that meant she didn’t have to pretend all was well with him when it wasn’t.
