Chapter 12: Chapter 12 Formal Divorce

They had been together for so many years from falling in love to getting married. Today, she finally could breathe a sigh of relief. Ashley felt much better.

Apparently, neither Jake nor Kate had expected that she would have such a side. In their eyes, Ashley was a serious and old-fashioned girl. They were stunned for a moment.

Ashley was unwilling to stay any longer with them, she walked away.

Holding the divorce agreement in her hand, she walked out of the office building. The warm sunshine made her sigh. Was this the smell of freedom?

"Du, Du."

She closed her eyes to feel the sunshine. Everyone in the company didn't know what happened and said hello to her. She heard the horn of a car and looked over, it was Lucas and his assistant.

He rolled down the window and looked at her affectionately.

She walked over, opened the door, and sat down next to him. There was a distance of about half a person between them.

Hearing the noise outside, Lucas straightened his cuff link with one hand and said indifferently, "Today is the seventh day. I have kept my promise. What about you?"

She knew that he came here mostly for this matter. Anyway, she had already got the divorce agreement fortunately, which was also a gamble between them. Although this gamble did not seem to be very useful.

"Look for yourself."

She handed the agreement to him. He raised his eyebrows and turned it over with his slender fingers.

In fact, he was satisfied when he saw the word "divorce agreement", but he couldn't ignore the content.

When he saw the condition of giving up all the property, he couldn't help squinting and pointed at the words above and asked her.

"What's going on? It's not your style to give up all the property."

He always knew that Ashley was collecting evidence of an affair about Jake. Photos and videos are ironclad proof. How could she give up all the property?

Was it because she still loved Jake and didn't even want to leave with something?

At the thought of this, Lucas was annoyed. He pulled her to his side, staring at her.

"You still love him!"

Hearing his affirmative tone, Ashley rolled her eyes and sneered, "Do you think it's possible? I didn't love him since I decided to divorce him."

Or maybe she should have known that she didn't love Jake since she knew he and Kate cheat on her. She was still deceiving herself at that time.

"Really?" Lucas asked in disbelief.

She took a deep breath and said, "I did publish the evidence of his infidelity, but... I didn't expect that Kate would keep an eye on us. She took a picture of us..."

She pursed her lips and didn't say anything more. He had understood and let go of her arm and sat down.

"You should tell me. I remember I've told you that your business is my business and I can solve it."

She lowered her head and shook her head with a smile. "No, that's good. I don't have any burden at all. Although if I can take back a part of my property, I will feel happy for revenge. I estimate that I will bear psychological pressure for a long time."

She was an orphan and had no parents when she was a child. She worked hard from an early age and was admitted to a good university. She fell in love with Jake and helped the Jake Group survive. She was alone and learned a lot in the Jake group these years. She believed that she could start a new life.

"Well, as long as you are happy." Lucas held her hands. "Don't you have anything to take out?"

Ashley shook her head and said, "Not much. I asked my secretary to bring them out for me."

She didn't want to step into the company anymore, but there was still the Jake family. She felt a little headache. She took the Jake family as her own home, where many things belonged to her in the house. But now they had divorced. If she went back... She thought for a while and bit her lips.

She could ask Vicky to take out the company's things, but no one could help her with the Jake family's things.

Noticing her hesitation, Lucas pinched her face and raised her chin.

"What are you thinking about? I'll take you to dinner. I'll go with you to get the things from the Jake family."

"But..."

Ashley frowned. It was all because of Kate's accusation that she had an affair with Lucas first. If she went with him, she would be mocked by the Jake family.

"You don't believe me?"

"No, I just think I should handle it myself."

"Here you are again. Your business is my business. I hope you can bear in mind in the future, Mrs. Lucas. Otherwise, I will punish you."

Ashley was stunned. She pouted and asked, "What punishment?"

"I see."

When she came to her senses, Lucas' lips had left, leaving only some warmth on her face. She widened her eyes and her face suddenly burned.

"You..."

"Mrs. Lucas, I've been waiting for this day for a long time."

She didn't know why she felt love from his sincere eyes and words. Was it her illusion? Or did he keep pestering her because he liked her?

After dinner, Vicky brought the staff to them. She was not surprised at all when she saw them standing together and greeted them politely.

"Mrs. Ashley, Mr. Lucas." Vicky took the suitcase and was taken over by Lucas, but not touched by Ashley.

"Martin, get in the car." He ordered his assistant and driver.

"Thank you, Vicky." "Thank you for bringing me these things from such a long distance," Ashley said with a smile.

"It's my pleasure. I'm your assistant."

Vicky was still so calm. A trace of guilt emerged in Ashley's heart. She promoted her to this position, but she left the company. She knew that Jake would not arrange her well, but what could she do.

"I have left the company. From now on... You will have a new boss."

"It's a pity, but as long as you are happy, I'll leave if there's nothing else. I still have half an hour to go to work."

"Go ahead. Be careful on the way."

Lucas held her hand and returned to the car. He could still see the back of Vicky from the rearview mirror.

"She is a good assistant, capable and emotionally intelligent. If you are worried that she will be sidelined in the Jake group, I can let her work in the Lucas group."

Ashley took a look at Vicky and saw many of her shadows.

"No, I will bring her out by myself."

She had to start her business. When the company needed staff, Vicky was definitely a good choice. If she was willing to, she could give the best conditions.

"Well, you do need such a loyal person."

Everyone has their own opinion about who he is talking about.
