Chapter 15: Suspicious

"What do you mean by that? You suspect your mother?"

The two of them immediately held a meeting in the library room before dinner came. Ernesto quickly took Arsenio there because he felt something wrong with this, which Arsenio thought.

"Yeah, that's right, I suspect my mother. You know what, it wasn't wrong for me at all."

"Even so, on what basis do you dare to suspect her?"

"Based on my belief in humans. Listen to me, Ernesto! We were both betrayed by our own country, and it was very painful for us to accept. My trust in humans has now diminished as a result of that. And why can I suspect my mother? It is because..."

Arsenio explained the reason he was like that. He also tells the story of his mother's encounter with Androcles, which is told by Fran. The point Ernesto could get from that explanation was about human greed.

"So just on that basis? You still need proof for that, Arsenio." It seemed that Ernesto did not agree with Arsenio's explanation.

"I know, I shouldn't accuse people carelessly. Even if I don't trust humans anymore, I still need solid evidence so I won't be wrong in my accusations. But, to me, it's pretty clear, that Cecelia is the one who's going to kill Androcles later."

"If she turned out to be the culprit, she should have done that long ago. Why did she have to do this now?"

"Yeah, you're right, she should have done that a long time ago. She could have killed Androcles long ago when they met. But, do you know the reason why she has to do that now?"

"What?"

"Because she can't stand all this suffering anymore. And after she had managed to kill her husband, she would kill herself. And you know what, she will be free from her suffering."

Ernesto was silent, thinking that what Arsenio said was true. He had also seen his mother put on a sad face at lunch earlier when she heard that Andocles' eldest brother was coming here. For that, what Arsenio explained was very clear to him, that Cecelia did that because she wanted to release her suffering all this time which was caused by the other nobles.

After thinking that, Ernesto asked with a confused face:

"Then what about Evan and Cecelia? Didn't they come here because one of the noble families told them to? Aren't they here to kill Cecelia and Androcles?"

Arsenio was quite calm at the question. He even looked up at the ceiling of the library room and answered the question.

"You know the story of the Night Lantern? It's quite famous in my country."

"I know that story, a lot of parents tell that story to their kids so their kids don't go out at night."

Night Lantern is a story about a traveler who gets lost during the night for 24 hours. He was stuck there without finding any sign of life there, and couldn't even find his way back home. All he had at that time was a lantern in his hand. And at the end of the story, the traveler managed to find a light which was the way out of there. He had made it through the night for 24 hours and managed to find his way back home and find the sunlight he had been looking for. And without realizing it, he forgot that accompanying his journey to get out of there was the lantern he was holding, which always led him in the right direction and always lit up his every step.

"That story..." Arsenio looked straight at Ernesto. "You know, sometimes we don't realize that something has been helping us all along."

"So you mean..."

"Yeah, Evan's real purpose here and Jamila who works here is… they want to prevent that from happening. And you know what, we were wrong to suspect them."

"But if it's true. What if it's wrong, it turns out that they weren't the ones who wanted to prevent that from happening?"

Arsenio suddenly got off his stool, walking towards the exit when Ernesto asked that.

"If it's wrong, we just need to kill them. What we need to do now is... wait until the eldest uncle comes. His presence would make Cecelia's condition depressed. Until the time comes, we will find out the truth. Truth can never be wrong, and wrong can never be true."

And after that, Arsenio left the room. But just as he had just come out of there, a heavy voice sounded all around him.

"DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE..."

That voice sounded in Arsenio's mind. The voice seemed to be telling him to die. Even his eyes were red and bloodshot. Arsenio didn't know that, but he didn't panic and went straight to the toilet.

Arriving at the toilet, Arsenio vomited blood. His body felt shockingly weak, in fact, he almost fell from there.

No one realized what had happened to Arsenio. Ernesto who even his twin brother didn't realize. He was still in the library room, still thinking about those words from Arsenio. What happened to Arsenio, no one knows.
