Chapter 16: The City Behind the Walls
Yu smiled to himself as he stretched out on his comfortable bed. His two arms were folded up, becoming a prop for his head, he only wore his undergarment while waiting for bedtime.
He fantasized about Alina having dinner with her fiancé. Well, that must have happened, he thought, considering they had no scheduled tomorrow for any sessions.
"It must be fun," Yu muttered half inaudibly and his smile grew wider.
Yeah, that's for sure. Getting to know a beautiful girl who comes from the elite is already very fun, especially if you can get her love.
One of the man's hands went down to his crotch, sneaking under his shorts to be able to stroke his genitals which suddenly reacted as he thought about how cute Alina's smile was, how beautiful and big her breasts were, on her slender waist, on her tall and solid buttocks.
Yu even imagined he was making love with the girl so passionately, without any clothes, complete with the accompaniment of moans of happiness from the two of them.
And before he reached his climax, Yu who was already too tired finally fell asleep with a smile on his lips and one hand on his crotch.
Morning came and Yu deliberately woke up a bit late this time. He got out of bed half-heartedly. Maybe if he just swam right away he would be able to lift his spirits, and he decided to do it.
Yu swam in the swimming pool which is usually used as a physical exercise and additional simulation for him with a supervising doctor. And now, there was only him alone in the spacious and quiet room.
Maybe the man's thinking was right, he felt more refreshed after swimming for about two hours.
There is no activity whatsoever now in the facility building. Yu even felt very lonely because of this. Maybe I should try taking a walk out of this facility, he thought, as Alina had suggested yesterday.
Yeah, that might be better!
Yu was fully clothed, only in casual attire. And after that, he tried to get out of the building.
The city that lies behind the thick and high walls—which surround the city itself—is enough to catch Yu's attention.
When he first came to this city in one of the areas in the center of Kalimantan, he did not have time to enjoy the urban crowds. At that time, Yu was brought directly by the Akimura people to the simulation facility.
Yu just smiled in response to the wave of one or two comfort girls. Girls like that are quite crowded along the way, especially in certain corners of the alley. With sometimes quirky make-up, and of course, very minimal clothing, there are even one or two who deliberately let their breasts be exposed.
The man knew for sure, that the environment outside these urban walls was very shabby, but not the inside of these walls. Many robot workers in various shapes and sizes are pacing the streets to keep the area clean.
"How ironic," Yu muttered between his leisurely steps. "Then, is Alina's house also inside this wall?"
Yu looked around. Local government buildings, factories that produce something, or those apartments that spiral upward. Well, it seems impossible for elites like Alina to live in this area.
He had not explored the entire area within the wall. But at least, Yu could predict this. Except for those who have an interest, the elite will certainly not want to be in the middle of an urban area like this.
As far as the man knows, the area where the elite lives are known for its comfort and tranquility. The city within these walls is clean indeed, but also quite noisy.
He stopped for a moment across the street there was a clothing store lined with tattoo shops, electronics sellers, and so on. Yu smiled again, he had no money with him. So, the desire to buy one or two pieces of clothing that appeared in him just now must be put away.
And again he continued on his way.
Towards noon, Yu arrived at a very large open area, still inside the Wall.
There was only one giant building within the area which was fenced off with three meters of wire. And an airstrip for the wheelless type, but wider and longer.
Yu did not know what kind of vehicle would use the airstrip. However, he could see Akimura's name on the wall in that only building.
That meant, regardless of the function of the runway and the building, the owner was the same person as the owner of the facility where he had been undergoing space simulations for the past two days, a Japanese man named Hidetoshi Akimura.
Well, rich man, thought Yu. They can do anything with the wealth they have. Including, all costs and facilities to get to the Black Hole which he will do later.
Yu felt a little exhausted. So, he sat leaning against a tree, facing an artificial lake that looked calm. At some point in the lake, he saw one or two anglers.
Relaxing like that, enjoying a breath of air, made Yu remember the times when his parents were still alive. Even though their lives are limited, they are much better. Their days are always fun.
Yu smiled with teary eyes. "I miss you, guys. Dad, mom… Are you guys all right out there? In a moment, I will follow you. There's nothing I can do in this world, dad, mom… all, like denying my existence."
He tried to close his eyes as he took a deep breath. And moments later, Yu decided to leave the area. Better get back home before the sky gets dark, he thought.
Usually, at night the street thugs will wander around looking for prey. At least, that was often the case in the world outside the Wall that Yu knew.
But Yu was wrong. The urban atmosphere within the Wall is even more lively as night approaches.
Of course, Yu thought then while smiling broadly as he watched the growing crowds along the road to the Akimura facility. This city must have been guarded as well as possible—by whoever is in charge of the area.
Although there will certainly be no street thugs in the city, Yu is a little pessimistic. The problem is, no matter how good a system is, there will always be loopholes for something bad to penetrate. He was very sure of this.
Yu kept on walking, jostling with other passersby. He felt someone was deliberately groping his ass—right in the pocket of his pants. Luckily, he didn't bring any valuables such as a cell phone, wallet, or case. Otherwise, Yu would have lost it all.
This is one of the bad things that Yu thought about earlier. Pickpockets, always have a way of getting someone's valuables in a crowd like this.
What a shame, man, thought Yu as he smiled and shook his head. You will get nothing from me.
