O had moved to Zed's former office. Her office was vacant and handed over to K for use. K sat in front of the computer screen and watched as his girlfriend was being injected with a special medicine.
Actually, he didn't tell Frank about it, and he didn't know why Frank did it. It didn't conform to the rules of the organization.
But since all the other top agents agreed, he also chose to accept it. The newly repaired De-Neuralyzer was organized. He acted as a guinea pig and recovered his memory without any problems.
He also accepted the arrangement. He would have felt very guilty if his girlfriend, who had waited for him for 35 years, had died in that way. It was good now. His girlfriend would leave New York and go to another unknown city to start a new life.
And he did feel that the humdrum life, while something he aspired to, was not something he really enjoyed. He still likes the M.I.B job, or rather he was used to it.
Being the head of a branch and working in headquarters was perfect, it's just that he would get any more benefits when he retires.
Knock knock~~
"K, welcome back. Aren't we going to have a party? To celebrate your return and to send Zed off as well." J came in with a big smile. "By the way, how does it feel to have a girlfriend?"
"J, I'm the top agent in charge of the entire Americas operation and O has agreed that New York will also be transferred directly from headquarters to the Americas division." K looked at J seriously.
"K, I'm just kidding, don't be so serious. I think I heard N calling me. I've got some work to do, talk to you later."
While J went out, K's face revealed a rare smile. Although N was very good, even excessively good, he preferred J. If he hadn't worked at MIB, perhaps his kids would have been that old?
K took a sip of coffee, closed the program on the computer that monitored his girlfriend. She was now his ex-girlfriend. He was now more concerned with upgrading Arc Net, which was the first thing he was responsible for upon his return.
In the pantry, J drank some coffee, "N, tell me. If we retire in the future, would the M.I.B think we're indispensable, and invite us back?"
"It depends on whether you really are indispensable. Let's go. There's good news from the logistics department today. I heard that a newly developed vehicle was successfully developed and they are looking for volunteers to test it. I said yes. You want to join us?"
"New vehicle? Headquarters isn't allowing us to drive sports cars, are they? Let's go, let's go together." J immediately placed his coffee down.
The logistics department was responsible for the development and manufacturing of all equipment for headquarters, including the neuralyzer, special sunglasses, uniforms, weapons and transport, and so on.
What J wanted most was actually for the logistics department to develop a new black suit. The current style design was so old that he tried to help design it last time and was thrown out. Those people were turning down a talented designer and would surely regret it.
When they arrived at the logistics department, a number of agents were already waiting outside the windows. They all wanted to see what the new equipment was and whether it could be fitted for everyone.
"There's a lot of people. It seems like everyone wants to volunteer. I think Professor Kidd will go mad with envy after seeing this." Professor Paul, the chief scientist of the logistics department and head of the department, said with a smile.
Everyone laughed. Professor Kidd was doing all the medical experiments, that daily death of mice had to be counted by the carts. Some newcomers had gone to volunteer before and were turned into monsters, with little improvement in combat power. Who would still want to go?
"This experiment is an improved version of a vehicle. I know that many field missions find that traditional cars aren't fast enough and are too big. They often run into traffic jams or narrow roads that cars simply can't get through."
"So, what we've improved this time is a single-person vehicle. Each field team can receive two of these. They can reach speeds up to 300 mph easily and can travel on a wide range of roads and are very sturdy."
"I won't tell you the principles, and you probably don't want to hear them. This has passed the preliminary tests, but you have to come and try it out to see if your bodies can handle it."
The faster the speed, the greater the load on the body. Although every field agent was physically superior, thankfully -- in consideration of the ages of many agents, not every agent could ride these things. Some of them are already considering retirement.
Previously, all the tests were done by alien agents who were physically better. This time, they intended to have Earthling agents do the tests and then they would be ready for mass production.
"N, you'll be the first one. No one has a problem with that, right?"
Everyone shook their heads. They all knew, N was the most physically fit of all, even tougher than many alien agents. They said that he had a genetic mutation. 'Why didn't we have such good luck?'
Noah saw the familiar Monocycle from the movie, the wheel was big and extremely cool looking. And it was actually compressible and fitted into a suitcase.
"N, this is similar to a motorcycle. You ride a motorcycle, right? Bicycles are fine too. Have you tried the older model? Just twist the throttle and it goes forward, the intelligent system adjusts the center of gravity, and it's very fast. So, you need a little ..."
Before Professor Paul finished, he saw Noah riding away.
Noah used to ride a motorcycle when he was a teenager. Fortunately, driving this ting wasn't difficult, and he didn't need to take a driver's license test. He just pressed the switch, gently twisted the throttle, and felt the vehicle swoosh out.
Fortunately, the test site underneath headquarters was very large, comparable to a large golf course, allowing him to accelerate without any worries.
"N, there's also a blue button on the left, it's super acceleration, try it." Professor Paul's voice sounded in his earphone communicator.
A slight sonic boom sounded as Noah's body jerked back and sat up straight again with ease. There seemed to be some invisible air current behind him, protecting him, and he didn't feel any discomfort, only the speed.
After experimenting with corners, acceleration, deceleration and roadblocks, Noah got out of the vehicle and pressed a button. The Monocycle quickly shrank to the size of a suitcase, which could easily fit in the trunk of a car and even be carried with one hand.
"Real time monitoring data shows that this is completely harmless to N's body, now switched to a regular agent for testing. J, you go first."
J pointed to his nose with a surprised look on his face: "Me? Great, I love riding motorcycles."
Professor Paul's face darkened, "It's not a motorcycle!"
J shrugged. 'It looks like one to me. Forget it, let's have some fun first.'
When other agents saw Noah coming back, they all asked Noah how it felt, then they saw a white line whoosh by.
"Professor Paul, you're awesome. I'm going to apply for them, for my team."
"Hahahaha, N, don't worry, you'll be equipped with one for sure. Everyone else, don't worry, you'll all get a chance to try it out and the production will start tomorrow. "
